11/18/2006 8:53:15 PM
I had to at Enterprise. Dumbest fucking thing EVER. Who the fuck wears a white button down long sleeve shirt in the middle of the summer with full dress pants and shoes to wash cars??? Why the fuck is that necessary???My current job with a school district tech dept. is great. Cargo pants and pull over shirts are completely acceptable. And they have a casual Friday policy, so I get to wear jeans and shit to work. And in the summer I get to wear shorts and sandals to work. HOLLA
11/18/2006 9:00:24 PM
monday's onlyThey had a relaxed policy during the summer. However after the time changed, I now have to wear long sleeves everyday. Luckily the owner is always hot so the office stays cool.
11/18/2006 10:20:26 PM
when i actually get work in my chosen field I will be required to wear a tie everyday
11/18/2006 11:41:46 PM
ties are for squares.
11/19/2006 1:38:36 AM
Khaki’s and polo with the staff of asclepius symbol on it, or scrubs(an ancient greek symbol associated with a demi-god of healing, and associated with resurrection, much like the later symbol of the cross that is on my name tag at the vet clinic)

11/19/2006 9:53:38 AM
all my choices of jobs currently...no
11/19/2006 10:03:44 AM
No. I work in manufacturing. It's actually against policy to wear one, as you might get it caught in a machine and have your necks snapped.
11/19/2006 10:38:46 AM
suit/tie most of the year, except certain times of the year when everything slows down considerably
11/19/2006 11:03:04 AM
I have to from October to April. Then the government says you don't have to because it's fucking hot.
11/19/2006 11:09:00 AM
yupwork for a design-build construction firm and the only day we don't have to wear a tie is on fridays
11/19/2006 11:13:38 AM
no way. shorts or workpants and t-shirt in the summer, jeans or workpants and t-shirt/sweatshirt in the winter. when its really cold, i'll put on my dingy coveralls. . . its a very "hands-on" job.
11/19/2006 12:54:01 PM
no, and no one else does too except for the director when he has a meeting
11/19/2006 3:06:46 PM
Yes. No casual Friday. Work with executive type folks and their clients.
11/19/2006 4:42:04 PM
Where I work, the guys with degrees do Monday through Thursday, and the guys without degrees typically don't. It's an engineering design firm.
11/19/2006 7:02:04 PM
the facility i work at now is casual as fuck. i have never seen anyone in a tiethe facility i'll be working at come january is 100% professional dress. wearing a suit everyday is totally acceptable and not wearing a tie draws attentionhonestly i prefer the professional dress atmosphere. i already own the clothes and i like them, they look good on me. plus i like the environment where everyone cares about their presentation.
11/19/2006 8:08:42 PM
in my line of work, i'll wear a shirt and tie everydayit's not a big deal to me
11/19/2006 8:10:47 PM
i usually wear shitty clothes because my office is so fucking dusty.
11/19/2006 8:19:45 PM

11/19/2006 9:24:56 PM
no, in fact, sometimes I'll just come in with a t-shirt and shortsno big deal, my higher ups do it too
11/19/2006 10:27:35 PM
monday through thurs is shirt/tie :/
11/19/2006 11:35:43 PM
Professional clothes look good on me because I have huge breasts.
11/20/2006 12:23:57 AM
i wear a tie to work maybe twice a year
11/20/2006 7:31:26 AM
yes, Monday - Thursday. I dont have to, but it seems to make my students show a little more respect than if I rolled up in jeans and polo like some teachers do.
11/20/2006 9:17:44 AM
11/20/2006 9:53:57 AM
not once in this officeyes when traveling
11/20/2006 10:48:11 AM
nope...but then again neither do our senior execs and CEO (who makes around $25 mil a year)...hell, corporate dress codes is jeans, so bus-cas is actually dressing up!
11/20/2006 1:05:36 PM
i think ties are hot
11/20/2006 6:26:13 PM
not in the office. i wear one in court and for client meetings if the client generally wears coat and tie.
11/20/2006 7:26:55 PM
yes, every day. At my last job, people got offended if I dressed up.
11/20/2006 8:36:22 PM
wacky tie fridays get crazy!
11/21/2006 10:12:18 AM
11/21/2006 12:33:21 PM
no
11/21/2006 2:03:19 PM
I'm a girl, so no. The guys do here 50/50, if they feel like it or have an important meeting - cool, if not, khakis/dress slacks and a button-up is fairly standard. also depends on what floor you work on, my floor tends to dress business professional whereas the 2nd floor tends to dress business casual, 3rd and 1st are hit and miss.
11/21/2006 3:14:25 PM
a tie can easily get caught up in an industrial capacity meat grinder, so no
11/21/2006 5:54:39 PM
$200,000.That's the salary I would require of a job before I wrapped a tie around my neck.
11/21/2006 7:35:28 PM
i wear jeans and a polo shirt, it is our version of business casual(work for the Feds)(that is Mon through Thursday, but we have to wear dress shoes) Then Fri, Sat and Sun we go casual(sneakers)Only time I have seen anyone wear a tie to work is if they have a job interview afterwards. Even when guys "dress up" it is a button up shirt and dress pants/shoes, no tie.My first real job required a tie....i felt like it was strangling me all day[Edited on November 21, 2006 at 7:54 PM. Reason : w]
11/21/2006 7:52:25 PM
No tie. Never have never will. It's important that you are comfortable at work. Today it was jeans, tennis shoes, pullover cotton shirt.
11/21/2006 8:19:22 PM
I would never have known that people were disturbed by ties until I asked TWWthe mindset of people on here never ceases to amaze meit's like the 1% of society that is totally in disagreement with the standards of lifeand worse this is is a place that makes you feel good about thisTWW will be the end of society
11/21/2006 8:42:24 PM
I don't understand the adversion to ties
11/21/2006 10:21:33 PM
I don't understand the aversion to spelling like an adult.
11/21/2006 10:47:12 PM
My reasoning is that I was forced to wear long sleeve cotton white shirts in the middle of the summer with dress slacks and shoes to go wash cars. 100+ outside? No, we don't wear short sleeve shirts, thats not professional.I have ruined many nice ties, shoes, etc. at that job and it was a joyous day when I left that hellhole establishment. I would not mind wearing those kinds of clothes in a job that required me to be professional looking, but also afforded me a more professional job role and pay. Making 25k to wash cars in my Sunday best was NOT my idea of a professional job.
