So I know there have been a million threads on date ideas around raleigh, but my girlfriend is comming down for a few days and im looking for fun things to do around raleigh that aren't quite date ideas, but just fun places to hang out, fun things to do. outdoors type stuff would be ideal.

Lake Johnson: nature trail, walking bridge, and paddle boats. It's different and not that expensive--might be a little chilly, but it's workable.

And there are the museums. They can be very cool, especially if they have some kind of special exhibit that she--and you--might be interested in. Most chicks like to know what you like or are "into," especially in the early phases of the relationship.

Go out to Hemlock Bluffs Nature Preserve on Kildare Farm Rd. in Cary. It's the last surviving stand of hemlocks in the south...there's something about the geography and micro-climate there that make it possible. Anyways, they have a really nice walking trail in the woods with raised walkways over all the mushy ground. They have nice viewing platforms on the bluffs, too. Good birdwatching.
