is there a program (relatively cheap) that you can put onto your computer to mix guitar parts and vocals etc? I don't need anything that produces a great track, just something easy to use and not too expensive.

Adobe Audition, formerly CoolEdit I found to do everything I need.

seems like i used to use acid music back in the day for my amateur ass audio mixing.

Audacity is free, and it does a pretty good job, plus it supports VST's

n-track is also free and pretty darn good

Garageband (free on any Mac for the past 3 or so years).
