So I got a flat tire at Zaxbys..I pulled into the parking spot, got out and heard a hissing sound. Apparently there was broken glass in the spot and it sliced my tire (about an inch in width). I called AAA and made the manager aware. As I understand it restaraunts are liable for their parking lots. I'm going to have to get a new tire as this cannot be patched upmy question is:is it worth it to email the owner (the local franchise one) and see if I can get him to cover the cost, or do I have no chance at all?

I don't know about the cost coverage or anything, but I'm glad to know that I'm not the only guy who would call AAA in the event of a flat tire

haha, I ended up having it changed before they got there. I just figured if they got to it in a reasonable amount of time and had it done by the time I was done eating that it would save me some time...but they didn't. AAA is pretty worthless for flat tires.

well I would try to get some doe back, what can it hurt

be a man, and change your own tire.

I think I'd call the manager and have a chat with him. When money is involved, it's always at least worth a try, especially if you had a car with expensive tires.
11/12/2006 10:29:40 PM
yeah the tires were pretty expensivethe manager gave me the guys email address, so that's all I have to work with.

move on. shit happens.

whats the worst the owner can say? no? id atleast give it a shot...just dont go about it in a "you owe me" type of way.

do you think one of those employees getting paid $6.50/hr is going to scan the parking lot for tire-puncture hazards? If you call the manager have a solution to propose to him, otherwise you're just a nagging wife to him.
11/13/2006 10:36:54 AM
well, i would probably wonder what left pieces of glass in the parking lot
11/13/2006 10:39:42 AM
Wait a minute...you think you deserve it paid for because you ran over glass? That's absurd. If you don't check your path for shards of glass, it's on you when your tire explodes.Freeloaders man, I'm telling you...

its a cold day in hell when glass flats a tire. be realistic.

^hahahai once said that to my roomate as i drove my car over some glass- and it punctured the sidewallit will pop a tire[Edited on November 13, 2006 at 10:56 AM. Reason : v]

Hahaha...you BOYS I got a flat on my way to student health a few days ago and I changed the tire ALL BY MY SELF. Had four or five guys walking by ask if I needed any help and I said Nah, I got it, Thanks.
11/13/2006 11:00:55 AM
i didnt say it couldnt do it, but it would be a cold day in hell.
11/13/2006 12:35:44 PM
yeah, the glass punctured the sidewall of my tire so I guess it was a cold day in Helland I'm not trying to be a freeloader...I just got done paying to get my fucking car fixed and any chance of getting some money for something that could technically be put on Zaxby's is worth a shot IMO

this thread is no longer about a flat tire. it is now about the jerking off i need to do since the introduction of zepher.

It is not the responsibility of the store to scan the lot. Is it DOT's fault if there is a nail in the road? A flat is a flat, man up and buy a new one. I mean you just got called a bitch by a female.

You have no legal standing to ask for them to pay for your flat.If you want to go ahead and ask and see if the guy is either inhumanly nice or hcnugyen-ish retarded....then knock yourself out. You've probably got about a .0001% chance of getting compensated. Is it worth the time?? Well you've already wasted time making this thread. What's an extra email going to hurt??

I don't know much about the legal system, but I don't see the difference between you going into a grocery store and slipping/falling due to a spill and puncturing your tire on glass. I know from second hand experience that a grocery store is liable in the aforementioned case for any injuries, so I can't see why in the world that wouldn't translate into the parking lot scenario.I am definitely not a fan of frivelous lawsuits, but there is no reason why you should drive in a restaraunt parking lot designed for public use and be expected to pay for damages caused by shear negligence.

i think the restaurant is liable as well[Edited on November 13, 2006 at 10:56 PM. Reason : /]

I remember someone falling in front of my parents' restaurant. He was walking down the street, barely on our property. And it was pretty obvious that he fell on purpose. I think he got some money out of us. That was pretty fucked up. But the rule can be beneficial in some cases.
