Talk about being a sore loser; Tom Delay, former Republican House Majority leader, said after yesterday's Democratic sweep of the house:

"The Democrats didn't win," he said, "Republicans lost."

Hmmmm......Is it just me, or are they the same thing?

Well it is just you.

What he's saying is that it wasn't that democrats won because they are such a great option, it is that people were fed up with republicans and they lost out because of it.

This is simple logic, but for a stupid alias, I bet you do have trouble.

Never played a sport, huh?

I'm not sure America won or lost. We should probably wait and see, right? I think one of the things we will get though, is to find out how much power the presidential branch of government has right now. I think its too much, and so a democratic majority with an adamant republican presidency will certainly grind together a bit.

when incumbents lose, they almost always lose as opposed to the other side winning. elections are retroactive referendums on the incumbents ability to govern.

^Very correct.

This has actually happened to every president in history except Clinton (the 6th year itch).

The reason it didn't happen to Clinton was because he already got pwned during his 2nd year when the Republican Revolution happened. He could lose any seats, because he'd already lost so many.

Ha, whatever. A win's a win. People always have the option of NOT VOTING to show their lack of support for both parties; instead they DID VOTE for Democrats. Take it like men, boys.

I actually wanted the dems to win the house, so you really don't have to worry about me being a sore loser.

But you bring up a good point, what were the turnout numbers like this time around?

Well the difference between democrats and republicans from my perspective is this:

With republicans, my taxes stay even and the government spends an assload.

With dems: My taxes rise, and the government spends an assload.

You must be mistaken, the taxes only rise on Bill Gates, they promised me

Unless you also mean capital gains tax (which the dems BETTER extend)

oh sorry, I thought you guys were privy to tax law.

I was referring to the capital gains tax rate reduction that is set to run out in 2010.

Capital gains tax will resume being at ordinary income tax rates after that time.

bush just said that "iraq had a big part" of some of the races, but that lots of democratic candidates had "really strong campaigns" and "turn out the vote" campaigns on the dem side.
