on nfl primetime on espn, just said that he thinks nc state should be looking for cowher; said somthing along the lines of alma mater and things like that and said he knows cowher is frustrated, just bought a house in Raleigh, etc.said don't say it to bill cowher b/c he won't say anything and will tell you he will never quit, but it sounded as though salisbury thinks cowher might seriously not coach in the nfl after this year[Edited on November 7, 2006 at 2:16 PM. okay, even if Cowher was thinking about coming to State, I don't think he wants to take over a program before taking atleasta year off to get his mind straight and study up on college football.
11/7/2006 2:16:31 PM
^^^yeah he does, but it could be more encouraging considering this is the first time that I have heard one of the NFL analysts talk about Cowher really considering retirement, and also mention nc stateit is still a pipe dream i know, but it would be freaking awesome[Edited on November 7, 2006 at 2:17 PM. as the steelers continue to do shittier and shittier (note: they are the defending Superbowl champs and their record at the halfway point of the season is 2-6 including losing to OAKLAND) the possibility will actually become more realistic...still completely dependent on how State finishes and how the Steelers finish...and there are like a hundred threads about Cowher and State
11/7/2006 2:17:29 PM
No, I didnt just hear him, I heard him at 1:40 am this morning...http://www.thewolfweb.com/message_topic.aspx?topic=443252

^^ i know there are a bunch of threads about cowher and state, but i thought this was really interesting that salisbury would mention it and i thought it could get overlooked in other threads[Edited on November 7, 2006 at 2:20 PM. Reason : .]

its sad to think we might have a good year next year and if cowher does want to come in after next year it will be harder to get rid of Amato.
11/7/2006 2:18:52 PM
my bad, didn't take the time to look back i just heard it and got all excited thinking about the possibilities
11/7/2006 2:19:58 PM
^^I think 6-7 years is long enough to prove what you can do as a coach.

I think if Cowher went straight to Fowler and told him he was interested, I think Fowler might be more willing to pull the gun. No way would he want to do for football what he just did with the head coach for basketball. However,I don't see that happening this year. As much as it would kick ass if he did. If Chuck has to win vs UNC to keep his job, he'll beat them. Bunting's already done, Chuck would have more to coach for IMO. Just like he's beaten FSU to keep himself in a job

yeah i was watching it when he said iti was all
11/7/2006 4:01:32 PM
You bitch about amato for his play of sub par QBs and you look towards cowher as a replacement?Big ben is the worst QB in the league and the steelers wont even make the playoffs. We dont need a lucky coach, we need a good one with some kind of eye for talent.
11/7/2006 4:02:53 PM
NFL coaches do not have the control over the players playing on their team as do collegiate coaches.[Edited on November 7, 2006 at 4:05 PM. Reason : ]

lucky hahahahe uses the run game with a good O lineIF WE EVEN KNEW HOW TO BLOCK WE WOULD BE OKwe have the QBs to play, they just dont have the time to make those plays.i seriously think Trestman is a good guy who knows what he is doing but its when he makes a play then Chuck changes that play, that is when we screw up.Not to mention half of Cowhers Superbowl team is gone really...if u think about it.
11/7/2006 4:05:49 PM
i dont even think mr bettis had over 400 yards total last year and doubt his running on the occasional short yardage down kept ben from sucking complete ass.[Edited on November 7, 2006 at 4:17 PM. Reason : .]
11/7/2006 4:17:18 PM
Why would we want him. WE ARE NC STATE! We have such football tradition that we would never lower ourselves to someone who can't even beat the Raiders.
11/7/2006 4:17:26 PM
its alot more than Just bettis.
11/7/2006 4:18:11 PM
unless el plays defense for the opposing team he isnt going to be catching passes
11/7/2006 4:21:19 PM
well lets seeBettis the leader is gone, Randle El is gone, Porter is gone.then this year
