Placidus obviously wants to rob multiple women at once.
11/6/2006 10:12:28 PM
Seeing as how it was a rifle and not a knife, I'm assuming the assailant is a white red neck male instead of a black male.

not that I don't think that ladies should make use of escort services, but how would this particular case have been different if there was a dude with her or if it was a dude by himself? She got robbed at gunpoint

There's alot of girls I see on campus at night who are just walking around dumbly with music from their ipods blasting into their ears. One was walking in the middle of the street and I had to flash my headlights to get her attention to get outta my way.Darwin, where are you.
11/7/2006 2:29:05 PM
I have also wondered about that. I carried some drunk chicks back from parties a few times and we'd almost always see some female walking around in the dark by herself. I wonder if they have boyfriends. If they did, they shouldn't be walking back from their bf's dorms by themselves.
11/7/2006 3:37:35 PM
Fuck it, I think it's a good thing that women feel safe enough, or enabled enough to carry on without someone constantly by their side.I worry about anyone's safety at night, but it's not ASKING to get raped/robbed/killed for a damn girl to walk somewhere alone. And to even intimate that a girl deserves some kind of punishment of the sort for being on her own is pretty disgusting.
11/7/2006 4:01:40 PM
^^because a woman has to be definied by her boyfriend?why not inquire as to if she has any friends to accompany her, or if she is aware of the escorting available from campus public safety?[Edited on November 7, 2006 at 4:03 PM. Reason : ]
11/7/2006 4:03:31 PM
^defended?Sometimes it isn't guaranteed that that you'll have a friend or two walking with you at 2:30 AM to see your bf.
11/7/2006 4:18:43 PM
It's not the point of "Fuck it, I think it's a good thing that women feel safe enough, or enabled enough to carry on without someone constantly by their side." It's the reality of the situation. Who has a link to that story a couple weeks ago of the college girl who, after a night out with her friends, was going to catch up with her friends at the next bar. She stopped and asked a guy on the street (former childhood pr0n charges or something) to borrow his cellphone and what happens? Rape and death. There are weirdos out there. Then there's sickos who get off to that stuff. That was 3am on a Friday/Saturday night right next to a campus I believe. Then there's the story of the woman walking by herself at 1am who got robbed at rifle-point. O, nm. I'm pretty sure I've never heard a rape story that started 'I was with a friend and this guy came up to us...'

STUDENT PATROLTHERE FOR A REASON

I'm still extremely confused by:
11/25/2006 9:26:47 AM
That's true - you'd think that someone intent on robbing another would try to be inconspicuous. Walking around with a rifle is anything but, and trying to conceal one would be a bitch: how many people do you see walking around in trenchcoats? If I saw someone "approaching with a rifle," I'd run like hell.
11/25/2006 11:12:02 AM
Course, there's those .22 Winchesters that can fit in a coat and are light, I can see how that would be inconspicuous.I've had night classes where I had to walk to my car, wishing I had my revolver, but my sister told me if I use the phone while walking there's less of a chance I'd get robbed, and insisted I'd call her every Monday night after my seminar, lol. Kind of annoying when you have to talk and walk when you're out of shape.
11/26/2006 4:13:08 PM
you have a hard time walking and talking?sad.
11/26/2006 5:18:20 PM
You tell that girl walking at night that I'm coming and hell's coming with me
11/26/2006 7:05:23 PM
^ shotgun, but still wins the thread
11/26/2006 8:16:50 PM
11/27/2006 3:24:44 AM
I think the phone could help. I wouldn't rob a guy that can instantly tell someone to call the police.
11/27/2006 10:04:05 AM
^^ only if you're one of those aloof fucktards who doesn't pay attention to anything around them while on the phone.
11/27/2006 4:59:32 PM
I still think the mobile phone is a liability by making you look distracted. What's the average amount of time it takes to be robbed, vs. the average amount of time it would take for her to say "help, I'm being robbed", her sister to hang up, call the police, explain the situation, and wait for the police to respond?
11/27/2006 5:31:47 PM
Women shouldn't walk alone at night. My bf wont let me walk accross the well lit parking lot to my apartment after 10:30pm without him. Its not that he is being possesive(sp?) its that he doesn't want me to get hurt. I appreciate him walking me back. I think that women should walk with thier friends at night and not by themselves. Don't be stupid and think it wont happen to you because it will if you think like that.
11/28/2006 11:18:11 AM
Women use the mobile phone as a shield when alone - if they look like they're talking to someone, it's less likely that some jackoff hits on them. Your sister's advice was misplaced: she was thinking about the wrong kind of scumbag.
11/28/2006 12:05:41 PM
Do they not still have student patrol officers on campus? I was one for 3 years while in school. we gave escorts to students who wanted them after hours. Just press a blue light and they are there.
11/28/2006 12:07:06 PM
that's like wearing a helmet riding a bike.it's smart, but you look retarded.
11/28/2006 1:51:30 PM
^^ The funny (and I mean that in a sarcastic way) thing about those officers is that it is a sexist program. They won't accompany men if they need it. When my friend and I were leaving WKNC one night with over $3000 in record equipment (in 2 easily liftable boxes we were carrying) we asked for a vehicle escort so we wouldn't get robbed on the way back to east campus. The guy was very difficult on the blue light and even had to ask his supervisor for permission. Now I KNOW I've seen them carting around little blonde haired white girls in those vehicles so there is no reason why they couldn't have sent one over for us. It's not like we made them load our two boxes into the car or anything.
