I am currently fostering a ~1-1.5 year old Cattle dog/Pointer mix. She is up to date on all vaccines and is spayed. She is going through heartworm treatment right now but should be done in a month or so. Her back legs are more straight than normal so she has kind of a peg leg walk. B/c of this I named her Grace O'Malley which was a famous female pirate.

I saw Grace at Franklin Co. when I went to pull a border collie and an aussie/border collie mix. I fell in love with her and couldn't leave her. She is the sweetest dog I think I have ever met. She is very submissive with other dogs (males and females) and WONDERFUL with cats. She is just now starting to play with toys, so I am guessing she has never had any before. She is house broken and doesn't chew up anything. She is starting to try to play with the other dogs here. Before she would just follow them, now she is starting to play. She was so shy and is learning how to be a dog, slowly but surely. I don't know anything about her past.

If I could afford a 3rd dog she would live here b/c she is an absolute joy to be around.

her pictures are in my gallery.

She is through Sound Pet animal Rescue so if you are interested in her check out http://www.soundpet.org/

If you have any questions let me know.

I'll let my co-workers know. I have someone approach me every week about finding them a dog.
She looks just like a dog i pulled from Franklin County AC back in the spring!

I pulled the little basset mix female this afternoon. she's a sweetie. I'm gonna introduce her to my Grandmother to see if she likes her. otherwise she'll be up for adoption in a few weeks.

How good is it with small animals? Also, has it been child tested? And how much is it to adopt?

Fine with small animals, probably ok with children,
http://www.soundpet.org/faq.html for adoption fee.

You have to fill out an application to adopt.

Can she run well?

How big is she?

I kind of want another dog, but running (and mountain biking) is a big part of mine and my current dog's exercise regimen.

Right now she can't do much running or anything because she is having her heartworms treated. But yes she can run. She actually got out of the house the other night and ran a lot. Luckily, she listens well and came back quickly.

^ check out Durhams Shelter
http://www.apsofdurham.org/adopt/adpt-dogs.html
i was there last week and they had 3 or 4 nice adult small dogs.

2 are seniors but low energy and sweet "betty & arthur"

"Gwen" is the sweetest dachshound mix.

"Jimmy" is cute 2-3 yr old jack russel. (a lot of energy but fun)

also check http://www.petfinder.org/shelters/NC119.html. they get small dogs in every once in awhile. I rescued a rat terrier mix from there monday. she's 20 lbs and is wonderful

also check craigslist. http://raleigh.craigslist.org/pet/232332113.html

[Edited on November 9, 2006 at 11:08 AM. Reason : or contact a breed rescue if you find a particular toy or small terrier breed you like]

[Edited on November 9, 2006 at 11:10 AM. Reason : can you tell i find dogs for people as a hobby?]
