15, 18, 20, and 23 have no business being in the Top 25 at the beginning of the year. While number 12 should be b/t 20 and 25. The only reason thsoe teams are there is based on hype and program prestige.

Thoughts:

Florida??

Duke is waaaaaay overrated.

Boston College is about right.

Georgia Tech probably shouldn't be in the top 25.

UConn, GT, and Syracuse should NOT be in the Top 25. They have very talented young players but have to prove it just like UNC did last year. Duke is way too high without Paulus and with an unproven McRoberts/frosh. BC is NOT a Top 25 team without Craig Smith. You can take that to the bank.

** Florida should get every #1 vote and UNC should be the unanimous #2 team

V actually I'm 'hating' on my favorite team as well in this thread.

UNC has basically the same team as last year plus a ridiculous freshman class. I suppose Florida gets #1 simply because they earned it last year, but I'm sure UNC is the favorite to win the tournament in vegas right now.

I don't know about Tennessee, but the Pack's first real game of the regular season is this Friday against Wofford. I really want to go, but I'm heading back to Charlotte to make up celebrating my birthday with my family. I told them I have to be here for the GT game, so I'll come home next weekend. After seeing us play against Northern State I've realized that our team needs the fans more than ever. We need a full, loud student section for every game this season to help our boys out.

The "field" (every team that doesn't have their own odds) is 12:1. So basically, it's more likely that a shitty team no one's ever heard of will win the NCAA championship than the Pack.

Duke has been in the top 10 for like 10 years. preseason doesn't count. We will be back up there after the Indiana and Georgetown games. Duke is underated.

Duke won't be bad, but they'll be painfully mediocre this year. Maybe a 30-40 team, but nowhere near the top 25. Look for solid losses to flat out better teams.

They built their program around Redick and he's now gone. Koojawooski is a genuine coaching expert but Duke was due for a decline even before Paulus went out.

^You are an idiot. Duke has always had years where we lost everybody and came back even stronger each year. this freshman class is better than the one 4 years ago. Duke will be like 03 worst case scenario. you are dumb if you think we will fall out of the top 25.

Redick was the go-to guy on every crucial play for the last 3 years. Their offense was a series of screens designed to get Redick open. Don't kid yourself.

LSU surprises me a little bit. I'll have to add them to my list of schools to dislike simply for the fact that both their football and basketball teams are ranked in the top 10. damn you texas and tenn!

When you consider that the "field" is made up of 200+ teams, then of course they have better odds...or at least, Im not going to offer you 40x what you bet when you have that many chances to win.

duke is not waaaaaay overrated. maybe 12 is a bit high, maybe more like 15 or so. but this will be a very very good team by the end of the year, much more dangerous than last years team. also, paulus will probably be available for the first game of the year. so the gloom and doom scenario without him is gone. they are infinitely more athletic than they were last year and yes redick was the focus last year but the drop off without him will not be that great. if anything they will be better because other guys will be forced to step up and take some responsibility instead of jj watching.

this is all true

but duke will not be that good

they usually have "that" guy , dockery, ewing, etc that could do everything good

this year who is it? nelson? mcclure?

they are just too young

yeah, i think so. i think this team loses 7-8 games through various growing pains of having a young team. but come tourney time, i think they will be a 3/4 seed and will make a deep run (round of 8 or maybe even a sleeper final 4 team). once the freshman get used to playing the college game this team has a much better make up. they will be deeper, at least 8 deep. considerably more athletic (mcroberts, thomas, henderson, nelson). question marks will include pure shooting (pocius and scheyer are going to have to fill that void consistently). rebounding (mcroberts will have to stay out of foul trouble and zoubek will have to continue to be as impressive as he has been thus far). experience (no seniors). paulus' development (does he make the jump from promising freshman to team leader, cut down on turnovers, etc.). the peices are there, though some of those peices are young and unproven.

Man, I'm just saying that when they NEED a bucket, who will they go to? Mcroberts? He will be doubled.

Paulus is not that player, Henderson is too young same for scheyer. Nelson and Mcclure are not that player either

yeah, that is a valid point. henderson is young but i think he will be the guy by the end. with his athleticism he will def. be able to create his own shot and get to the basket. but very valid argument.
