What do you think you will be welding with it?
11/1/2006 10:39:34 AM
i figured it would be mostly light metal. time to time something pops up at home that needs some welding attn. if i needed to, i can take something to work where the welders are heavier duty if needed..but do you think something like this is exhaust worthy?? or mainly for metal crafts at home, like earings .ive been debating this for a while, my brother wants to get one for us. i want something good, but i dont know if my house can handle something like that. but then again i could always take stuff to work and weld it.[Edited on November 1, 2006 at 10:58 AM. you ever welded w/ flux core before?[Edited on November 1, 2006 at 11:13 AM. Reason : 10% duty cycle sucks bawls]
11/1/2006 11:12:07 AM
we have a gas welder at work.i can work with that, not like the body men though. ive just learned through work.
11/1/2006 11:14:54 AM
i mean for $80 you cant really go too wrong if you get some use out of it.ive only used flux core a few times and didnt really get used to it or any good w/ it.
11/1/2006 11:27:36 AM
Yeah i'm with ↑10-15% duty sucks....we would have never got senior design done w/ that crap.but it would work for craft stuff i just know for anything i would use a welder for its nearly useless.
11/1/2006 11:31:23 AM
i could probably get away with 10% duty cyclebut i would prefer for it to at least have the gas hookups, even if i kept it loaded with flux-core sometimes.still, $80...i wonder if they have harbor freight in FLbut i don't know...i'm kind of a fan of "buy well, buy once."

11/2/2006 9:49:38 AM
i've always hated using flux-core and 10% duty is gonna suck but for $80 i dunno, guess it'll do the job if you need it every now and then
11/2/2006 10:25:29 AM
Anybody do aluminum welding? I've got an oilpan that needs a little tlc, and I'd like to avoid using jb-weld again as a fix Anyone interested in helping me out?
11/2/2006 11:06:09 AM
i would but our tig is broken (again...fuck esab and nat'l welders...)
11/2/2006 11:12:28 AM

11/2/2006 11:34:37 AM
I'm not in a huge hurry, i'll take a picture when I get home. essentially, I'm removing a turbo oil return fitting from the oil pan, and need to plug the hole where it previously fit.
