cavemandan, the "manly" man that thinks that the only sport that requires skill is what? football? you are crazy, soccer requires more athleticism than just about any other sport. I would say baseball and hockey have a chance to be in the same rank. You must have been the fat kid that couldn't run, so you were signed up for football!
11/1/2006 2:41:40 PM
we lost to DUKE 2-1 today...
11/1/2006 8:37:53 PM
are we any good this year? I haven't had much time to track them?
11/1/2006 8:52:09 PM
^You're not a real fan.
11/1/2006 8:57:43 PM
hopefully with the new arena coming in we might be bale to pick up some more recruits and get more fans to the games. Which could lead to some more wins...not working for football tho
11/1/2006 9:10:47 PM
our soccer team needs a new coach...if state would recruit locally we would be golden...unc and wake forest recruit almost exclusively from the triangle/triad...back in '03, UNC pretty much recruited the whole '85 casl elite team out of raleigh
11/1/2006 11:21:36 PM
^We've got more South Americans on the team than anybody else. The coach is from Argentina so we've had a steady stream of players from there. I don't know much about soccer. You would think that would be a good thing since soccer...err futbol is HUGE down there.idk... [Edited on November 1, 2006 at 11:35 PM. Reason : .]
11/1/2006 11:33:22 PM
yea thats the point...we don't need to recruit those players...its kind of hard for a team to flow when there are 3 different languages being spoken on the field...and there is no doubt that they are good, but if you had any hopes of playing soccer for a career, why would you leave argentina to come play college ball
11/1/2006 11:50:21 PM
^trueIt almost seems like we sent a couple of coaches to Argentina, they snooped around a bit, saw some high school age kids kicking around a soccer ball (with probably more skill than they saw here in NC), took it as "gifted talent" and gave them schollys. Where as the truly talented ones are playing in one of the millions of futbol development leagues down there.
11/1/2006 11:55:33 PM
yea i mean the triangle is such a soccer rich area and there should be no reason why kids don't want to come here to play...unc does so well because they bring in 10-15 recruits every year that grew up playing with each other
11/1/2006 11:58:31 PM
I do remember seeing Tarantini at some CASL games when my cousin played there. But my cousin is a female and it was pretty much all female games so IDK if he has a daughter or just helped recruiting for womens team...

plus, UNC puts a shitload of money into these kinds of sports. (their club Rugby team has an annual budget of $41k compared to our $1,800)and they put all that money into coaching, facilities, full scholarships, etc...
