Meeting someone there for dinner. Looking for something not incredibly expensive.

well there is a johnny carinos if you dont mind a chain place. there is also a sushi place in homestead market on 54 that is really trendy, there used to be a really nice italian place in there but they closed. if you take 54 down towards chapel hill there are a few good places in the woodcroft shopping center. the pub has good bar food, there is a nice mexican place, and there is a good little italian place in there. my recomendation would be the mexican place in the woodcroft shopping center if you like mexican.

no maggianos is at southpoint, the name of the place in homestead market was pasta bella. it was a tiny little place and they made all their own pasta. it was really good.

http://streetsatsouthpoint.com/html/mallattractions.aspI'd take the extra 10-15 minutes to go towards Briar Creek if you are looking for something not incredibly expensive.

Whatever you do, don't waste any time going to a little place called Valentino's. You'll probably know it if you see it. It's in Chapel Hill somewhere, and it was one of the worst dining experiences ever. It was really very little food and way overpriced.

^^ I've been to that website and to southpoint in the pastNot impressed.[Edited on October 29, 2006 at 3:19 PM. Reason : asdf]

depending on how far you want to go i can recomend other places in durham. there are a bunch of good places in brightleaf and around ninth street, but in that area just head down to woodcroft shopping center.[Edited on October 29, 2006 at 3:23 PM. Reason : (and firebirds is probably my favorite mall place)]
10/29/2006 3:23:20 PM
not really wanting to go far from there because it's already going to take me an hour to get there
10/29/2006 3:24:39 PM
I really really really loved Pulchinella's in the woodcroft shopping center. The mexican place was ok, but I was never too happy with the selection, but I eat vegetarian, so I was limited anyway. Never went to the pub, myself.

theres also a japanese place in there but its always looked kinda sketch

I live right next to Southpoint...- Cheesecake Factory - Ted's Montana Grill (haven't been, but I hear it is O.K.)- Maggiano's- California Pizza Kitchen (would be my #1 recommendation)- The sushi place he was talking about is called "Sushi Tsune"; it doesn't look that great on the outside, but it is really cool on the inside and the food is pretty dank.- There are all of your chain restaurants as well (Chili's, Ruby Tuesday's, etc.)- If you want something really trendy go to City Beverage, it is maybe 3 miles from Southpoint on 751, the prices aren't bad either. It's right across from Woodcroft shopping center.- I wouldn't go to Pub, its kinda grimey and is way overpriced. Hope this helps.

panera if you want cheap and relatively quick...it's certainly not fancy
10/29/2006 5:39:22 PM
i forgot about city beverage, its pretty good. but the pub is not grimey, their burgers are bangin.

My husband and I just ate at Maggiano's at Southpoint on Wednesday. It was really good and the portions are HUGE. . .get the 1/2 size or share if you go. Not a bad date spot.California Pizza Kitchen is super yummy and not too expensive.

yay for national chains

Maggiano's is really good. They encourage you to share plates, & they are large portions, so you can just get an entree & desert & that's enough (I think it was ~25 for that & 2 drinks)

^^You know, I was always annoyed when my friends wanted to go to Chilis or Applebees all the time, but I'm also annoyed by the snobbery I hear these days. I've learned that some people don't eat out that often, and when they do, they typically want something that's dependable and predictable so they won't have to risk the chance of spending money on a meal they despise. So sue em.

Squids off of 54 (I think) is good for oysters and other seafood! I love Ted's Montana Grill and Maggiano's too.
10/31/2006 3:08:19 AM
Snobbery? No, I would rather support local or regional resturant owners.[Edited on October 31, 2006 at 3:15 AM. Reason : ]

I completely forgot about the Cheesecake Factory, its my favorite place at Southpoint
10/31/2006 3:11:05 AM
Maggiano's FTW. I go to southpoint so much more often now that I live on the east side of chapel hill. A lot shorter drive and its got a nice movie theater. Red Lotus is in east gate in chapel hill and is pretty good. But thats probably a touch farther than you want to go.

So I went to Pulcinella's tonight and had their pizza for the first time. It was pretty decent, but nothing to write home about. I would recommend sticking with their other stuff. And if you get a salad get their house dressing, its a vinagerette with a tomato base and is delicious. And maggiano's is crowded, noisy, and overrated. Firebirds is the best place at the mall
11/5/2006 7:57:12 PM
california pizza kitchen ftw
11/5/2006 10:50:34 PM
there is a place called Akashi Sushi on Hwy 54 near the intersection with 55they have half-price sushi on weekends, and they're really good
