Looks like US Soccer is still going after Klinsmann as coach - i know speculation has been around for awhile, and apparently it's still in the 'informal discussion' stage, but hopefully talks will pick up

hooray futball!!
10/27/2006 12:45:08 PM
http://msn.foxsports.com/soccer/story/6120114Apparently Klinsmann is very connected to Adidas and that has thrown a wrench into discussions of becoming U.S. head coach, cause the U.S. is very heavily Nike. Also, we're competing in the Copa America in Venezuela next summer.

11/1/2006 3:03:27 AM

11/1/2006 8:20:10 AM
Woo, Copa America!Even if we get slaughtered, it's a good thing.
11/1/2006 9:47:41 AM

11/5/2006 2:49:22 PM

11/22/2006 12:04:27 AM
On if U.S. Soccer is having discussions with Juergen Klinsmann:
11/22/2006 12:20:42 AM
ive heard some rumors about peckerman as coach recently
11/22/2006 12:21:46 AM
HIRE JOSE MOURINHO
11/22/2006 12:24:41 AM
would there honestly be a shot in blazes of him leaving Chelsea?
11/22/2006 12:26:57 AM
peckerman was argentina's coach, correct? im not sure what hed be able to bring us...i just think Klinsmann would be a perfect fit, he showed he could work well with the German team that wasnt expected to do so great, he lives right where the US would do most of its training, and he would have a job where the pressure for success is not nearly as high as any european country he would have to deal with is
11/22/2006 12:56:47 AM
^ Eh, Klinsmann strikes me as a one-hit wonder. Think about what he did. He took a traditional power that was hosting and got them 3rd. I think he's also fallen in love with his ego that he was the sole one responsible for Germany's success, and as Bruce Arena recently showed, just cause you exceeded expectations in one tournament does not mean you are a tactical genius.I'll be fine either way between Pekerman and Klinsmann. The head of the USSF Sunil Gulati said the announcement will be made at the CONCACAF Women's Gold Cup in Los Angeles this coming Sunday.[Edited on November 22, 2006 at 8:49 AM. Beckham 2 America!!
11/22/2006 9:01:41 AM
doesnt klinnsman live in LA? put 2 and 2 together...haha
11/22/2006 9:34:12 AM
Pekerman won three U20 world titles for Argentina before becoming 'general manager' of the country's national teams - he eventually became coach after the last Olympics i think^^ Beckham is looking like a real possibility to MLS after the league's recently passed salary cap rule to accommodate signing superstars, i.e. bring more notoriety to the league... plus he knows he'd automatically become the new coverchild for People Magazine as soon as he steps off the plane in New York
11/22/2006 9:50:46 AM
11/22/2006 9:51:59 AM
11/22/2006 10:13:08 AM
^ where did you see that? Everywhere I've heard, it said either.Back to Klinsmann...http://soccernet.espn.go.com/columns/story?id=394596&root=us&cc=5901
12/5/2006 3:28:57 PM
http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/16057043/Says Klinsmann is going to be announced as coach in next 2 weeks
12/5/2006 3:34:09 PM
I hope its truebut tommy smyth just said that was false during commentary of the champions league game.
12/5/2006 3:41:07 PM
Yeah, I heard that... I just thought this might be different. Recently updated, I think it was posted only an hour and a half ago and it seems like more than a rumor.
12/5/2006 3:46:55 PM
http://soccernet.espn.go.com/news/story?id=394971&cc=5901this fucking sucks, i really wanted him. looks like it's Pekermans job now
12/7/2006 2:59:22 PM
ahahahahahahahahahhahahahahaahahahahahahahhaYOU GOT FOWLER'D
12/7/2006 5:33:59 PM
im suprised myself, but no big deal, klinsmann would have hated coaching us, we dont have enough talent right now
12/7/2006 5:36:11 PM
Chivas USA coach Bob Bradley is your new interim head coach, just popped up on ESPNhttp://soccernet.espn.go.com/news/story?id=394983&cc=5901Pekerman or Houllier would've been a home run. Instead?FOWLER'D[Edited on December 7, 2006 at 5:46 PM. Reason : ahahaha this shit is too funny]
12/7/2006 5:43:10 PM
yea i was just about to post this as well, it seems like a step down from Arena, but oh well, soccer is just never gonna thrive here in the states...
12/7/2006 5:49:55 PM
Sunil "Lee Fowler" Gulati
12/7/2006 5:54:30 PM
i never thought arena would be fired, they made a big mistake
12/7/2006 5:57:08 PM
12/7/2006 5:57:53 PM
just interim, not a big deal
12/7/2006 6:08:32 PM
Klinsmann is overrated. He coached a traditional power THAT WAS HOSTING to the semi. Steve Sampson could've done that.
12/7/2006 7:30:12 PM
^ haha whoa, lets not get ahead of ourselves.
12/7/2006 7:32:57 PM
^ I'm just saying he's not anymore a savior that some in the soccer media portray him to be for the U.S. than Berti Vogts was for Scotland.[Edited on December 7, 2006 at 7:39 PM. Reason : /]
12/7/2006 7:38:54 PM
haha I was referring to the Steve Sampson part
12/7/2006 9:05:26 PM
but he would have been great for PR, and getting people to the mlsall we need is one huge name to sign in the mls and the ruinning of soccer will begin
12/7/2006 9:11:04 PM
the Chivas USA coach will coach the US National team...credible sources say
12/7/2006 9:27:12 PM
Jim Rome is the happiest person in America upon that announcement
