Anyone taken this over summer? If so how was it? Trying to decide whether or not I should take this in the upcoming summer or if I should wait until Spring semester of my senior year to take it. The other option would be taking this, ZO421, and BO360 which i have already ruled out.. any advice would be appreciated

I took GN 411 last summer (2006). I did pretty well in the course, and it seems that the people in the class that I spoke with also did better than most people do in the normal semester. Dr. Gardner (sp) teaches in the summer, she also teaches GN 412 during the normal semester. Alot of people have a negative opinion about her because of a bad experience in the lab. In her class, however, she is very nice and helpful. Her tests are very fair and there's an extra credit project due at the end of the session that can really boost your grade. I don't think she curved the tests any or much, and I think that was because the averages were always pretty good.I would definately reccomend taking it in the summer. Summer 1 with Gardner if possible. I think Dr. Emigh teaches in Summer 2. I think that its much better to get this course over with in one month than stretch it out over a full semester. Also, see if you can find old tests for Dr. Gardner if you take her course. The tests won't be exactly the same, but the topics and style of questions will. They're a huge, huge help for her course.

Ted Emigh is the man, although he wears the same sweater day in and day out and his personal hygiene is lacking. It's a pretty easy class too during the summer. Prepare for one test a week (tuesdays) and HW due every friday. Dont plan on taking another time consuming class at the same time.

I really liked Gardner. A lot of people say she's mean/tough - and GN412 is a lot of work for one credit - but if you talk to her before/after class or during her office hours she's really sweet and immensely helpful. I took Emigh for GN411 and I didn't like it. I learned a lot more from Gardner in the lab than I did in the class. And BO360 is cake. Get the old tests and do the classwork assignments and you should have an A.
