I think IE6 was better. 7 just tries to pretend it's firefox
10/19/2006 2:16:09 PM
same thing i thoughtbut ie7 has ff whooped until ff2 comes out
10/19/2006 2:21:29 PM
everytime i've tried to put the version of explorer with tabs on my computer, it doesnt load webpages
10/19/2006 2:26:12 PM
The one or two annoying display bugs that IE had that I ran into daily seem to be fixed now.I can't fully use it for a while though.
10/19/2006 2:30:32 PM
i hates it.Fuck the UI changes and fuck not being integrated with explorer.
10/19/2006 2:31:28 PM
avantbrowser ftw

I biggest complaints center around the UI. I'd like a little more freedom in how I can arrange the controls. I'm not a fan of the default layout. Function wise, it seems to do it's job. I haven't encountered any problems yet. The tabbed browsing seems to work fine. Other than the UI issues, I haven't encountered anything I've hated. I'll have to do some more exploring (no pun intended) based on Shaggy's comment about not being integrated with explorer.

oh i had not checked lately - it was rc1 when i got it
10/19/2006 5:08:42 PM
i'd like it fine if they would just let me move my fucking menu bar above the address bar that shits about to drive me crazy
10/19/2006 5:14:02 PM
10/19/2006 5:36:07 PM
I'm hoping IE7 will be able to adapt and change dynamically. Waiting five years for any feature changes kinda sucks. For that reason, I'm sticking with Firefox for now.
10/19/2006 5:39:43 PM
until it's as easy to develop 'add-ons' for IE7 as it is for people to do so for firefox, they're not going to win the techies back overi'm too used to gestures (especially to browse back) and no ads. if i have to sacrifice 2 seconds of browsing speed to ensure that i wouldn't see any ads and that my wolf web was gray instead of red, i am fine with that.[Edited on October 19, 2006 at 6:25 PM. ^I used firefox at work, 3 seperate occasions 3 browser windows consumed 155mB of ram.cnn, slickdeals, and webmailFuck that shit
10/19/2006 7:52:01 PM
true, the memory leaks are badok, so it wouldn't take TOO much to switch me back over. just a couple of key add-ons/extensions and i'm willing to ditch firefox
10/19/2006 8:23:00 PM
I haven't looked into it, but I'm hoping they'll something like the IE Developer Toolbar that IE6 has for IE7.
10/19/2006 8:49:51 PM
traitors!!hahai am an ie fan, too, just waiting for the bomb shell to drop before i completely switch back
10/19/2006 8:51:08 PM
I like IE7, it's so dad-gom sweet. It's new, easy, smooth and im all in.

Yes. I've seen similar memory usage, and it's pathetic.

avantbrowser is based on IEhttp://www.avantbrowser.com/faq.html

here's a bug..... very weird. After installing IE7, Dreamweaver all of a sudden forgets some/all of its stored FTP username and passwords and won't retain them whenever you reopen DW. I read a couple people post about it in the comments here and another blog somewhere before I installed IE7. http://blogs.msdn.com/ie/archive/2006/10/18/internet-explorer-7-for-windows-xp-available-now.aspxI checked and rechecked my Dreamweaver settings before installing, and they worked fine. Sure enough, as soon as IE7 was installed, DW doesn't retain any username/passwords. very frustrating.

I'll be blocking the IE7 update on my domain controllers.
10/20/2006 3:25:33 AM
i've noticed my norton AV going nuts and constantly running live update and finding new updates ever since i installed IE7coincidence?

Most of NCSU and I know for a fact the entire Vet School is blocking IE7 due to how it handles secure applications and working with legacy applications (as in it doesn't work at all). They have a lot to fix and hearing that you can't move buttons and menus... screw that.
10/20/2006 6:37:53 AM
bttt. just got it tonight, and the text rendering on many sites (including tww) is complete crap. it looks like i'm viewing everything in a non-native resolution on my lcd (antialiased and slightly blurry). i think this is my personal nail in the coffin for ie. i'll be sticking with FF for a while, i had been a maxthon faithful until now.
12/5/2006 1:59:09 AM
Turn off ClearType.
12/5/2006 7:46:35 AM
ff2 ftw
12/5/2006 7:56:54 AM
^^yeah that pretty much fixed it. not sure why they leave it on as default, cleartype looks like shit.
12/5/2006 11:46:20 AM
I don't mind the cleartype. Like the tabs. The "activex" problems and other incompatabilities is about to drive me away though.
12/5/2006 3:01:22 PM
the only thing i don't like about ie7 is that you have to give your active bookmarks a title that appears beside the website logo on the active bookmarks toolbar, whereas in firefox you can leave it unnamed and see the website logo.
