have updated their website after a year or so of the same damn image and explanation that they're back in the recording studio.too bad this current one has even less information.http://www.smashingpumpkins.commaybe it's the first sign of a nearby release.

Let me preface this by saying SP is one of my top favorite bands of all time, so I'm not a hater. But...If the entire band had died in a plane crash in like...1998, it would be one of those things that everyone cried about and said it was a horrible tragedy. But musically speaking would have made them legends. As it is they're just...meh.
10/17/2006 2:17:22 PM
Yeah, pretty much after Mellon Collie, they got really fucking weird.
10/17/2006 2:20:36 PM
Even though Corgan did everything, I still can't get excited about this unless D'arcy and Iha are back in the band. Otherwise it's just another Zwan album.
10/17/2006 2:40:53 PM
^ Yup, my sentiments exactly.
10/17/2006 2:45:42 PM
wait, I've purposely been avoiding any SP news, but...They're bringing back the name, but not Darcy or James? WTF?
10/17/2006 2:53:19 PM
I must say, Im very excited for this, SP is my fav band evar! I know for a fact no Daarcy, last I heard James was questionable.
10/17/2006 2:58:42 PM
If James isn't in, I won't listen to it. It was weird enough seeing them with Melissa.
10/17/2006 3:27:05 PM
Billy and Jimmy are confirmed. Iha is questionable. Melissa what's-her-name has publicly stated that she would be happy to play if D'arcy didn't make it back. While Zwan overall was a bit of a disappointment, I thought they showed some good promise. They lightened the mood from the later Pumpkins records. They got back to having fun while playing loud, distorted, guitar rock. That's something that was sorely missing from Adore and Machina. A couple of the songs on Mary Star kicked a fair bit of ass (Jesus, I was my favorite of the album - a lot of Starla floating around in that song). If Billy can take some of the high points of Zwan and apply that back to the Pumpkins, then there's the distinct possibility of them making kickass music again. The same band that made Siamese Dream and Pisces Iscariot is still hiding in there somewhere.
