I'm originally from NJ but never gave a damn about them, until now.Its official, I'm on the bandwago!Who's rooting for Rutgers besides me?
10/16/2006 1:18:26 PM
me toobut i've always pulled for Rutgers because my dad graduated from there
10/16/2006 1:32:12 PM
No. Rutgers in the BCS would be a joke.
10/16/2006 1:32:43 PM
^why. Give me a intelligent answer, b/c you've got nothing.

^the UNC game was the first of the year, everyone works out kinks. And they've played a harder schedule so far than most, at least statistically speaking. Not to mention having the top rated defense in the nation.I'm just saying don't dismiss them so easily, without looking into it.
10/16/2006 1:39:12 PM
I've looked into it and...
10/16/2006 1:45:21 PM
Hey I'm not saying they're SEC caliber, but they'd whip our asses I think
10/16/2006 1:46:44 PM

And they wouldn't beat us. We have just as many Florida transplants as they do... And ours are better. [Edited on October 16, 2006 at 1:48 PM. Reason : e]

I agree. Following them is something for me to do this season, since it appears we (NCSU) won't be getting a lot of media coverage where I live.
10/16/2006 1:51:33 PM
10/16/2006 2:05:18 PM
Apparently NCSU fans haven't paid much attention to Navy since the beatdown in annapolis half a decade ago. Navy has been to three straight bowl games, winning the last two. They were 5-1 going into the rutgers game - Navy QB dislocated his knee in the 1st quarter - team never recovered.Oh and before you give me some crap about navy, they're going to the car care bowl with one more win...you know, the place NCST played last year?BTW, nice way to jump on the Rutgers bandwagon six fucking weeks into the season - that's fucking lame. your man card should be revoked.
10/16/2006 2:23:59 PM
^Start a thread on Navy if you love them so much and GTFO of this thread.
10/16/2006 2:42:12 PM
haha - you're the one who siad they haven't played anyonewhy don't you actually read more than the name of a team before you go spouting off at the mouth about how bad a team is - you clearly don't have a clue about rutgers and i'm certain your contributions to this thread are somewhere between worthless and fucking moronic[Edited on October 16, 2006 at 3:29 PM. Navy hasn't played anyone either you dumbfuck. They haven't played a ranked team and just got their ass beat by Rutgers. They've got BIG wins against Air Force (not as good this year) and....wait....that's it.
10/16/2006 3:34:22 PM
Do you know what saragin ratings are? Oh, and they also played Tulsa and lost on a blocked PAT in overtime...yeah, Tulsa that's ranked #25 in the BCS standings. And you mean the USAFA team that lost by 1 to Tenn in Tenn when the coach went for a 2pt conversion and the win instead of tying it up? And is at the top of the MWC? I'm sorry we couldn't have losses to shitty teams so you could reference it to NCST's first two losses of the season (not knocking on the Pack - lord knows I love 'em).

good for rutgers, this is good for them...
10/16/2006 4:13:34 PM
my point is you saying Navy hasn't played anyone and that USAFA isn't good this year is a little wrongand i'm pretty sure it's the BCS standings that matter the most to people when it comes to bowling - the human polls are but just a part of itanyway, you're obviously a tille thick headed, so i'll let the comment about state not being good slide...i think what you meant to say was stone isn't good

Does anyone else hope that WVU is undefeated until their last game and Rutgers beats them. I would laugh.
10/17/2006 10:02:03 AM
Im already tired of seeing so many rutgers jerseys when i go AC.
10/17/2006 10:10:43 AM
^^ personally I hope WVU wins the Nat'l Championship.. i love watching their run game.
10/17/2006 12:47:33 PM
^^well it is the public university of NJ, so what do you expect. How about that win on Saturday. Rice is a beast!
10/23/2006 1:49:31 PM
^^you should have been here friday night thencause there were some straight up BURNS on the field...
10/24/2006 12:49:39 AM
lol, this team is going to get the floor wiped with it by WVU and Louisville... that's IF they escape UConn.
10/29/2006 10:41:41 PM
hah, Brown is walking on Rutgers' D. Whoops, blocked punt by Rutgers for a TD. [Edited on October 29, 2006 at 10:47 PM. Reason : ]

With the nation's second-leading rusher held in check by Connecticut (3-5), the No. 15 Scarlet Knights (8-0) held off the Huskies 24-13 on Sunday night to remain one of the nation's six undefeated teams.
10/30/2006 1:11:28 AM
Why is the Big East doing all this "Sunday Night Football" stuff this year?not that i'm complaining, i do enjoy having some competition for the NBC showing, but it's just weird and messes with my sense of how football should be...and does playing on sunday night help or hurt rutgers? none of the pollsters will remember this win next week, and it obviously doesn't help them with this weeks polls...
10/30/2006 7:57:18 AM
rutgers defense has been underrated all seasonpeople discount the BE way too much and over-hype the SEC way too much
10/30/2006 8:17:30 AM
UConn outgained Rutgers in total yards and had a significant advantage in TOP. If not for turnovers (blocked punt was huge), Rutgers might have been handed their first loss last night.Their games with UL and WVU couldn't get here fast enough. Can we please end this ridiculous BCS talk.
10/30/2006 8:43:24 AM
Yeah, they outgained them when Rutgers had a shitty night on offense. UCONN still only got 255 yards of total offense (199 from their RB - only 67 in the air). RU averages giving up 227 yards per game now - still #2 in the country behind LSU. An they're #3 in scoring defense at 9.1 points per game.the only thing that gave UCONN the yard advantage was a 65 yard run by their RB after he broke three tackles.Oh yeah, RU also forced three turnovers (one for a TD), blocked a punt (for a TD), and had 8 sacks.Did you watch the game last night or did you just read the box score? An overrated team would have lost that game. RU won.
10/30/2006 9:51:50 AM
10/30/2006 9:59:46 AM
^ agreed, but can the hype of this team stop once west virginia beats the hell out of them
10/30/2006 10:23:48 AM
yeah, just as I thought - you didn't watch the game. oh, and it would have to be a combo of if RU didn't take a fumble back AND block that kick UCONN might have wonthe short of it is this - Rutgers had a shitty night on offense. their team isn't built around their offense anyway - they're something like 67th in yards (but top 25 in scoring). their stud RB had a bad night as UCONN sold out on the run. the QB couldn't hit shit all nightthe defense still proved the be dominant force for Rutgers. UCONN went 3-15 on 3rd down and got just 12 first downs. I think the announcers said it best when they stated that past rutgers teams would have found ways to lose this game...instead they found ways to win. it was a trap game with UL up nextedit: ^ you mean the WVU team that hasn't beaten anyone except for Maryland? I think you mean the WVU hype will stop when they lose to UL[Edited on October 30, 2006 at 10:52 AM. Reason : .][Edited on October 30, 2006 at 11:01 AM. Reason : .]

Slaton will have a big game. UConn's Donald Brown ran through, over, and around Rutgers' Defense so I can't wait to see what Slaton will do.
10/30/2006 12:01:00 PM
Last night's game has my faith faltering a bit. I don't think they'll beat UL or WVU, but I think it'll be closer than expected.
10/30/2006 1:13:50 PM
yeah, that performance will probably drop Rutgers to #13 or #14 in rushing defense from their current spot at #11...but it doesn't move the needle on overall defense rankremind me again what good rushing defenses WVU has faced all year? actually, I'll save you the timeMarshall - 92ndMaryland - 100thECU - 99thMiss St - 46thSyracuse - 113thUConn - 110thfor an average rushing defense of....80!!! wow, really setting the bar high there - i mean one whole team that's not in the bottom 30 of 1-A rushing defense. Hell, Navy (#2 in rushing offense in the country) has faced better rushing defenses than WVU has (average opponent is 65) and are only 9 yards per game behind WVU. Why is that? Because Navy came into the Rutgers game averaging about 340 per game on the ground and only got 110.And WVU's pass offense is 110th, so they better hope you're right and RU really is soft on the run and the statistics lie.[Edited on October 30, 2006 at 2:01 PM.
