Hey folks,I need recommendations on where I can get a bolt rethreaded. It's the thread on one of my struts. While removing the nut (the one that holds the top hat), I slipped and hit the tip of the threads. I was able to get the nut out, but now I can't get it back on I heard I could buy one from Autozone??? Or is there a cheaper/simpler option?

if the top thread is just messed up, take a hacksaw blade and recut it carefull so the nut will start back on it

Or just take the nut in to sears and have them size it. If you don't normally have a need for a die I wouldn't buy one. I've used the hacksaw many a times before, a dremel with the right attachment also does a nice job.Autozone may have one on the loan-a-tool program[Edited on October 14, 2006 at 8:48 PM. harbor freight or northern has some real cheap tap and die sets that probably would be good enough for a one time use.

Got it fixed at Sears...New problem... cant get bolt out... LOL. Need a pass through wrench. Offset wrench cleared front top hats, but won't clear rear tophat. Checking autozone now to see if they rent out pass through socket wrenches.

^ nah... gear wrench won't fit down in the hole. I had to buy a $80 pass through socket wrench set.All done... just need to get an alignment now. Too bad I lost my digital camera. [Edited on October 16, 2006 at 1:59 PM. Reason : meh]

Crap, my spring install is turning out to be a nightmare... It looked so easy to start off with. Now, I'm getting a horrible grinding sound. It increases in frequency with speed. It also seems to slightly go away if I step on the brakes fairly hard. So, it has something to do with my wheels, brakes, alignment... or something that rotates in that general area. I've already looked at the brakes and they look fine and they perform like normal. The only thing I'm afraid of is if I messed something up during the install.I dropped it off this morning at the dealership for routing maintenance, but asked them to diagnose it for me while it's there. They are charging $130 for an "all wheel drive alignment" ... that's bull crap. You can't even change the camber in the rear because there aren't any adjustable camber bolts back there. So, I don't know where they are getting their "all wheel drive alignment" theory from.Anyways, hopefully they can figure out what's wrong, and I can take it to some local shop to get fixed. If you guys have ideas please shoot them my way. Thanks!

ROFL... dealership just called me. My exhaust was grinding against the rear differential. For those who read this thread...sorry for wasting your time. No returns. No refunds. I'll try to be less dumb next time.
