Well..Just got this silverado 3500 with the duramax and was wondering what upgrades engine wise were worth a damn for this thing. I always hear people talk about putting a "chip" in them but am unfamiliar with much of anything besides a corvette... So, any advice or places I can read some reviews and stuff..Thanks,Carson

seriously... you better hope and pray you don't have injector issues. your LLY is the most notorious of them all, and it's major surgery to R&R. i think we need to have a diesel night down at benson one thurs... there's enough on here to have a good show.

K, thanks for the heads up. I haven't really ever worked on a diesel... Anything I should keep an eye out for that would signal the injector issue is about to show up or is it just an all or nothing kind of thing? Also, this thing should still be under the original warranty, would that cover the injectors?[Edited on October 12, 2006 at 11:16 PM. honestly after driving diesels that were chipped and moddedand driving them stockdon't modify itif you do, just straight pipe it or put aftermarket exhaust and a different air filterchips produce plenty of power, but your transmission WILL NOT LIKE IT

stop in over at http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/index.php and take a look around. From what I've heard exhaust and intake would do about all you want. If you insist on chipping you'll also want to upgrade the tranny. There are a couple of kits/upgrades that you can do, a popular one is through suncoast transmissions. Don't jump on the bigname companies, as most of them are overpriced and can't do as much as some of the "off" names. MBRP is popular for exhausts, and it's what I'm planning on putting on my '06. Also be careful of K&N, a buddy of mine installed their intake kit on his 04 and had some problems, something about the oil that you have to use was messing something up, I know that's vague but just a problem he noted.Seriously though thedieselplace has some really smart people over there that have done about all you can do to their trucks...

k&n's are junk for anything. might as well not even run a filter.
