Anybody good with math? I can't think right now so I have 72 hours from one school with a GPA of 3.7I have 86 hrs from NC State with a GPA of 3.404What would my total GPA be if all hours were counted?

I'm trying to get atleast a 3.5

multiply the hours by the gpa, add, divide by total hours

Which GPA do I use?

how did/do you have over a 3.0 gpa and can't do 3rd grade math ]

nah bud, gpa doesnt work like that. tried it. only your gpa at state counts

^I know, but I'm applying to grad/Law school at another school and I'm sending both transcripts with the overall gpa on them. Hell, its worth a shot. I thought about it and it would make more sense for them to see my overall gpa from ALL of my college career (which should lower gpa in most cases) than just what State picks and chooses for its curriculum. When I got into UNC, they accepted 67 hours while NC State accepted 53 (undergraduate) because i came from a liberal arts college. Just trying it out....

3.5388

^^^ I've worked it that way. Just make sure to tell them up-front that you combined your GPAs.

Also inform them that you had to consult a message board for help with the math.[Edited on October 11, 2006 at 9:33 AM. Reason : .]

I wouldn't combine them. They'll look more at your recent school, but if I were you I'd call and ask the school you were applying to just in case so you don't end up looking like an idiot and having your application thrown out.

If you are applying to law school you will have to register with the LSDAS, which will standardize your undergrad GPA before its submitted to law schools. When the LSDAS calculates your standardized GPA, they will include coursework from all schools you attended, and any courses that were retaken (in other words, if you failed a course, retook it, and had the F replaced, the original F will also be used in calculating your GPA).hth
