You know they're gonna fail again - i mean, sure the margins will be reduced, but I must say that this Foley debacle may actually turn out to be blessing in disguise... Will anyone at all ever take the democrat party seriously when they lose again this round?I think not.

a fine post, my manonce the democrat agenda is exposed, the common public will not move towards them. the only people are drawn to them right now en mass if b/c of iraq troubles (which arent represented right anyway). once they find out about the weak on terror, pro-tax nature of this group, theyll go down in flames.
10/2/2006 8:59:59 PM
I think you should hope democrats do win.The worst thing that could happen would be for more people to get disenchanted with our government.I also never understood the need to hang on to a party when its so clearly evident that its incompetent.

^^ this is a serious thread. we all know that the democrats are gonna lose yet again (i'm gonna vote democrat btw, i'm not being partisan here)so, lets discuss the fallout to the liberal agenda when this happens[Edited on October 2, 2006 at 9:03 PM. Reason : s]

if you are a democrat, its more like any big State gameyou get your hopes up, but lose when it counts
10/2/2006 11:28:44 PM
Democrats aren't as unified as the Republicans, which does work against them, but politically, it's better because it provides more discourse and variation.
10/2/2006 11:34:41 PM
there is no way that the dems will pick up seats in november. This happens every election. The liberal media and start talking about nothing but democrats. "will democrates win" ..."will democrates take back the house".."will democrates take back the white house"...the truth is that republicans arent all that worried about the elections in november. They have not even begun to fight about the elections or started to campaign. The libs in the government and in the media have whipped themselves into a frenzy (likethey always do) and have created thier own reality....one in which the libs have already taken back congress. To them its only a question of how big a majority they will have.Republicans are confident in thier ideas and thier abilities to wage a successful campain. They will keep both houses and probably gain seats. On the topic of the thread....with all of that ^ said....im not happy with republican party at all right now. They suck and they arent very conservative. I would like to think that democrates could offer a good alternative to republicans. I would like to think that they are more than hate and rage against someone who "stole" the 2000 election. I would like to think that they have some good ideas. But they dont. And thats too bad. Because even with how much the republican party sucks right now, the democrates suck even worse. If they cant win in this environment (and they cant) then i dont know what will help them. I really think they will become completely irrelevant in society. And thats too bad...present some ideas guys....compete in the arena of ideas and not in the gutter of politics...pleaseok.../rant

Fuck, I might vote democrat. God damn Republicans need to learn a lesson.
10/3/2006 12:06:22 AM
I remember back when the GOP was conservative.
10/3/2006 12:22:27 AM
^^^When the democrats win, will you shut up with your nonsense political statements.
10/3/2006 2:06:30 AM
honestly, i've noticed i'm pretty pessimistic in life...that being said, i really think the democrats will find a way to fuck this up...i think they'd run the country better right now, but they gonna fuck it up somehow(ie: nominate clinton for president)
10/3/2006 2:20:31 AM
^^when the republicans win...will you??[Edited on October 3, 2006 at 6:32 AM. Reason : sdf]

I think the democrats will pick up several seats. Of course this number will be limited based on how much mud the party decides to sling with respect to the Foley issue. They can rightly go after the people that are directly involved but I wouldn't be surprised to see the issue brought to places it doesn't belong. If I see:"Vote for James Black... because the other guy's party had that pedophile"I just might vote party line.Negative campaigning has the exact opposite of the desired effect on me.
10/3/2006 7:34:07 AM
Is there a Democrat, like just one Democrat even, that's actually been pushing an agenda?Remember Newt's stupid little laminated card? Where's a Democrat doing that? Where's a Democrat saying "here's what we'll do if you put us in"?This is why the Dems won't win any seats. There's no leadership.
10/3/2006 9:49:48 AM
This is the Democrats election to lose. If they fail to capture at least one house of Congress this year, then it is soley due to their incompetence as a party, not sounds Republican strategy.Let's face it, with the events of the last two years, the Republicans have offered up Congress to the Democrats on a silver platter. If the Democrats can't even take advantage of this opportunity, then I have little comfort in their ability to survive as a political organization let alone attempt to rule the country.Incumbent advantage or not, the Republicans have really screwed up big time.
10/3/2006 12:40:43 PM
jbtilly, what makes you think the Dems are gonna start the mudslinging, Ive seen more Reps do it throughout the past years than Dems and you see them win (ex. Bush calling Kerry a flip flopper)[Edited on October 3, 2006 at 1:24 PM. Reason : sp]

http://www.tradesports.com/aav2/trading/tradingHTML.jsp?evID=35889&eventSelect=35889&updateList=true&showExpired=falseWell, it looks like this Foley thing is working pretty well for the Dems. The Senate is still pretty solid for Republicans, but check out what has happened to the House just today.
10/3/2006 1:52:04 PM
lol @ republicans
10/3/2006 7:05:27 PM
im pondering whether the foley thing might not actually have a silver lining for the GOP in the end. assuming that they don't get hastert on this, it did serve the purpose to stir up the base, serving like a defibrilator for a latent and disillusioned base. it's not a direct focus issue, but atleast the conservatives are awake and moving around, which they werent previously, giving a decisive advantage to Dems. it also continues to take up time in the news, which you could consider a bad thing, but given that MOST of the dem candidates running are running on the Anti-war issue and little else, it doesnt really matter what the Repubs do so long as they're not having to talk about Iraq. I don't think voters are going to make a connection that "GOP=PLAY WITH LITTLE BOYS PEE-PEES", especially if Hastert is able to show evidence that he and Boehner were not complicit in a coverup...just my thoughts on the last few days...that being said though, i think the margin just moved in to 14. No way someone is winning a race with a 5 week campaign on the platform "vote for the pedophile's name, it's really a vote for me!" (13 if you get the same read from Delay)[Edited on October 3, 2006 at 8:05 PM. Reason : .]

10/4/2006 12:50:49 PM
^I wanted him to win... not because he would have been a good president, but because he would have been better than Bush. Had to choose the lesser of 2 evils. However, I didnt think he would win, especially after picking Edwards has his running mate.

point being, everybody likes to predict what will happen in elections, and one side of the predicters is always wrong...then they bitch and moan for 2 or 4 years depending on the race
