So I went to the Petit Le Mans at Road Atlanta this past weekend. It was a great weekend filled with a Star Mazda race, some crappy Panoz race, some Speed World Challenge Touring, and GT races, as well as the American Le Mans classes. My roommate and I got to go out on the track in his 5-series. Too bad he didn't have the E30 M3 instead. A ton of nice cars were there. Despite it being a more sophisticated type of racing, there were still plenty of rednecks getting trashed and riding their dirt bikes and ATVs like fools. It's a great weekend if you're really into cars, but definitely get some earplugs. By the way the turbo diesel Audi's that they had in the LMP class were sweet. They ended up going 1 & 2 in the 10/1000 mile Petit Le Mans race, and were amazingly quiet.http://tinyurl.com/q8lyn[Edited on October 1, 2006 at 10:04 PM. the r10's didn't finish 1-2.....in fact the Judd-powered Creation had the pole, i think if the rear-suspension on the Creation hadn't have broke they probably would have had a pretty good run against the R-10'shttp://www.speedtv.com/articles/auto/alms/[Edited on October 2, 2006 at 12:53 PM. yeah i messed that up. the second Audi came in 7th. for awhile when i was watching it, one Audi would come by and the second came right behind it. the atmosphere is definitely about partying and watching awesome cars whiz by, and making the trip to the paddock and checking out the cars and talking to the crews.
