A poll was done for NFL teams where they measured popularity of each team.(Methodology here: http://www.harrisinteractive.com/har...ex.asp?PID=700)Quote:Pittsburgh Steelers - 16%Dallas Cowboys - 15%Indianapolis Colts - 13% (thought they'd be lower)Green Bay Packers - 11%New England Patriots - 9%Chicago Bears - 9%Philadelphia Eagles - 8%San Francisco 49ers - 8%New York Giants - 8%Oakland Raiders - 7%Denver Broncos - 7%Seattle Seahawks - 6%Carolina Panthers - 6%Miami Dolphins - 6%Tennessee Titans - 6% (thought they'd be lower)Washington Redskins - 5% (thought they'd be higher)Cleveland Browns - 5%Tampa Bay Buccaneers - 5%Detroit Lions - 5%Kansas City Chiefs - 5%Minnesota Vikings - 4%New York Jets - 4%San Diego Chargers - 4%Cincinnati Bengals - 4%Atlanta Falcons - 4%St. Louis Rams - 4%Buffalo Bills - 3%Houston Texans - 3%Arizona Cardinals - 3%Baltimore Ravens - 3% (I know they're somewhat new, but thought this would be higher)New Orleans Saints - 2%Jacksonville Jaguars - 1% (figures)

How can the Saints only be 2%They're America's team
10/1/2006 10:46:41 AM
the Colts, Steelers, and Pats are only up there because of recent success and the bandwagon effect.and i'm a Colts fan, so that kinda breaks my heart to see
10/1/2006 11:18:44 AM
Saints will be back to where they were pre Katrina in a year or so, cause the story will be old(er) then, it is already getting old....
10/1/2006 11:20:38 AM
yeah the bandwagon effect is going to explain most of these lists
10/1/2006 11:22:20 AM
I question the methodology.
10/1/2006 11:24:42 AM
the steelers are NOT up there just because of their recent successthe bandwagon effect, perhaps, but that's because of the relative continued success they've enjoyed for about the past 30 yearsthere is always a pretty large contingent of steelers fans in every city i've been to
10/1/2006 11:52:04 AM
i wish it would all just die
10/1/2006 11:54:51 AM
^^ They are a bandwagon fanbase by and large outside of those from the Pittsburgh area. It's not like there are tons of transplanted Pittsburgh [ers?]. The city is very small for a major metropolitan area. It's not like NYC or Boston where there are TONS of transplants around the country.

Wow, the Panthers rank 13th and are an expansion team...thats surprising, given their less than stellar record over the years. I figured they'd be near last outside the Carolinas. I guess their recent success has gotten people on the bandwagon.

I'm surprised Miami isn't higher.

yeah i agree, its just too bad they're 1-2 and 0-1 in those games
