Not quite garage material, but perhaps best place for this.

First, anyone know where I can find adhesive or hook and loop backed sandpaper discs (6 inch) in the 400-1000 grit range? I've got some 220 grit discs (Home Depot), but they're too abrasive for the use. I need these for the first step in cleaning up some marring on some corian.

Also wondering if anyone knew where to get an abrasive polish to follow up the sanding step with. I'd be using a light cut foam pad (6 inch) on a DA polisher.

Yeah, Lowes (tried there first, as always) actually had even less in the way of options... they only had 25 packs of 220 grit. I actually just ordered a pack from a DuPont (manufacturer of Corian) recommended supplier. Grits from 1000 and up. The 220 would have just ripped the finish apart... Don't know why I thought that would even be an option.

i'd try some local countertop installers, i have seen it put in, sanded polished etc, and i could not find the seam from the top after i watched them put it in

what's the background behind the need for this? du pont and many installers offer fairly impressive warrantys/guarantees.

Background/ Need: 10 year old Corian has accumulated some marring from everyday use. Original finish was in the medium gloss range. Finish now appears more matte, we're trying to get it back to its original stage. There are also some *relatively* deep scratches from various objects.

To update for general informative purposes. I did a test spot first with 600 grit today (sort of found what I needed), followed up with 800 then 1500 (last step was wet). Removed all marring under 1000 watt halogens, restored to a semi-gloss finish.

i would try what you are doing, and finish it with 3-m perfect-it 3 III you can get it from most auto paint places

I went with Optimum Compound this morning, seemed to do the trick. I didn't want to use my 3m polishes.. they finish down too well on my soft Mazda paint to waste on this project. Thanks for all the help.
