9/29/2006 11:37:57 AM
I'm so glad it wasn't me. After that talk he gave us, however, I was a little concerned about what I'd be getting back.Have you started your research case yet? [Edited on September 29, 2006 at 1:40 PM. Reason : ?]

glad that accounting case is over with.... gonna have to find time to study for that test this weekend.
10/24/2006 12:38:11 AM
HA....i had him for 311....GREAT times...
10/24/2006 7:32:03 AM
yes, I went through a few hard times with that case. I failed to post something to the GL from one of the middle columns of one of the cash journals and about had a heart attack for two hours trying to find where I made a mistake.
10/24/2006 11:08:36 AM
If anyone wants to get together to study Sunday night- I'll be in the CoTextiles library
10/26/2006 7:11:57 PM
i was surprised i got all the check figures on the case, though i probably fucked up the cash flows statementwas anyone else pissed that its all that work for 5% of the grade?
10/27/2006 8:01:14 AM
how much do you love doing cash flows?

question for you guys about the interim reporting. So, I don't know if I am reading this correctly, but it appears as though the income tax is allocated across the four quarters based on the annual estimate. What I don't understand is how other expenses are allocated across the four quarters. Are they estimated, too? Because, from the way the course notes read, they are not expensed exactly in the quarter they occur (with the exception of extraordinary losses and a couple of other miscellaneous items). Any help would be greatly appreciated.

i haven't started studying yet so this could be wrong or not what you are looking for but....the only expenses that would be estimated would be those types of expenses that would have a year-end adjustment such as depreciation. the other expenses wouldn't need to be estimated since you know the amount. say you spent $12,000 in January (1st quarter)... if the expense only affects the first quarter, then the entire $12,000 would be expensed in the 1st quarter. if that expense affects all four quarters, then $3,000 would be expensed in each quarter. no need for an estimate in that situation.if anyone has a better understanding or a different opinion, feel free to correct.

IMHO, ACCDOC rocks
10/30/2006 10:00:31 PM
I completely agree with you. Not only is he great at teaching the material, but he's so likeable, too.
10/31/2006 7:51:56 AM
alright, who made the 46 on this one?
11/2/2006 3:31:36 PM
I'm going with the same kid who made the 47 last time.
11/2/2006 7:31:08 PM
i thought he dropped
11/2/2006 8:42:20 PM
if he didn't, i'm sure he wishes he had now
11/2/2006 10:37:19 PM
this second case doesnt look very fun
11/7/2006 10:42:16 PM
no? I haven't even looked at it yet. The thought of having one more thing due doesn't seem fun to me.
11/8/2006 8:26:39 AM
That first test wasn't too bad, i got a 93, but the second test was a bitch cuz i completely blanked on installment sales. Still pulled out a 89 though surprisingly, I like Branson a lot but man, those lectures drag on.
11/8/2006 9:13:13 AM
there were a lot of people missing today and I didn't know we were ten down. I like how he passed out our rankings, that's always nice to have.
11/9/2006 7:45:08 PM
anyone started the last case yet?
11/19/2006 1:11:24 AM
someone made a 38? come on now kids, theres no way you should be an accountant if you make a 38 on one of bruce branson's tests
12/5/2006 3:14:16 PM
You think he'd be okay with comparing numbers for the case? And, if so, does anyone want to?
12/6/2006 8:11:37 PM
He asked us to do something before class today and I totally missed it because I was looking for something, do you guys remember what it was that he wanted us to do?
12/7/2006 8:55:30 AM
It's perfectly okay to compare numbers and work together. I do expect independent write-ups though. Your solution is more than just the correct dollar amounts--it's important that you tie those numbers back to the specific guidance in SFAS 114.I'd asked you to bring your textbook today--I may want to work an end of chapter problem with you (time permitting). Are my tests too easy?! That can be fixed . . . (next semester of course). Sorry for the lurking--should have let you know that I was listening in to this conversation before now. Someone help me understand the WWF reference.
12/7/2006 9:49:42 AM
Thank you for the info, Dr. Branson. And, your tests are in no way easy. In fact, they're quite challenging, but very fair.
12/7/2006 7:04:45 PM
grades for research case #2 are up on taskstream
12/10/2006 11:34:44 PM
