sad but true

gotta agree with that one, that's a pretty well-written article, although if chuck is so shitty, why does this guy say wait till the end of the season to fire him? just fire him now and start anew
9/22/2006 8:59:04 AM
the media hates him for no reason other than he has an attitude with most of the media members. They should love him because he always says something retarded that they can write about. Let him mouth off, write one article about it, then shut the fuck up so you can write the next one....dont run with it and get the guy fired. These people are stupid, and they dont know fuck about coaching college football.Amato isnt the best coach, but i'm not so sure we can do better at this point. I felt the same way about herb.
9/22/2006 9:10:19 AM
Unless Cowher's going to come, I'd sure like to know who's going to do better.
9/22/2006 9:11:28 AM
RICK BARNES!!

spot on articlebut who would replace him? tough spot
9/22/2006 9:27:14 AM
sad but true... oh wait that's already been said...
9/22/2006 9:34:02 AM
Refresh my memory as to where Tom Sorensen went to school?? I wonder why he (or any other member of the print media for that matter) aren't writing the same things about 1-2 Bunting whose only win is a 3-point pillow-biter against 1-AA Furman....
9/22/2006 9:36:20 AM
surei wish the charlotte observer would stop printing articles though. its always the same shitits easily the worst sports periodical i have ever read, worse than the winston salem journal and news and observer by a long shot

Maybe if we start sucking a little more we can start to be televised on abc, cbs, or nbc as often as Duke and Carolina are.
9/22/2006 10:03:46 AM
9/22/2006 10:06:03 AM
^^i dunno if duke should be in that posti dont remember the last time they were on anything other than raycom
9/22/2006 10:11:03 AM
I watched their WF game and I don't have cable, so...
9/22/2006 10:18:08 AM
raycom is broadcast on "non-cable" channels.
9/22/2006 10:20:25 AM
Yeah, but my point was that it would be nice to see an NCSU game on a "non-cable" channel every once in a while - considering I don't have cable.

the thing that I don't agree with in that article is that it makes it seem like akron's players are shitty. The second-rate ohio players are still fucking good. Football is king up there. And the big difference is that they coach fundamentals at the high school level, where amato recruits athletes with speed but no discipline. That's why I wasn't surprised that akron won. They might not have the same athletes, but they know football.

9/22/2006 10:37:19 AM
i couldn't agree with the article more
9/22/2006 10:56:34 AM
I didn't actually read the article, and it may be a very good article for all I know, but I just want to say that Tom Sorensen is a total douche.
9/22/2006 11:05:01 AM
who really cares what this guy in Charlotte says anyway, isn't that a carolina town
9/22/2006 11:08:15 AM
9/22/2006 11:14:26 AM
As good as they are, we should not be in a personnel situation where they'd be superior to us. I'm not anywhere near saying that we should fire amato, but i'm just saying.
9/22/2006 11:18:51 AM
^^exactly. I was listening to the wknc "sports show" (if you can call it that) and all they could say was "we lost to AKRON." All those Ohio teams can ball. Same with the florida teams, deep south teams, ect. We just happen to be a basketball state that thinks it's entitled to win football games because of the ACC badge.[Edited on September 22, 2006 at 11:20 AM. Reason : .]

this was espn.com today:Off the MarkChuck Amato is still the coach at North Carolina State, seemingly for the time being, but he can no longer be considered the self-proclaimed "Man." A week after losing to Arkon at home, and then inexplicably questioning the admissions standards of teams from the Mid-American Conference (hey, Coach, have you looked in the mirror?), Amato took his team to Southern Mississippi on Saturday. The result? A 37-17 loss, in which the Wolfpack committed three turnovers and 10 penalties. We knew the Wolfpack would struggle to score this season because the West Coast offense former NFL coordinator Marc Trestman installed never seemed to be the right fit. But now NC State is struggling on defense, too, without Mario Williams, Manny Lawson and Stephen Tulloch. Southern Miss freshman Damion Fletcher ran for 177 yards and three touchdowns, and the Wolfpack never forced the Golden Eagles to punt.It might only get worse in Raleigh. NC State plays Boston College on Saturday, Florida State on Oct. 5 and undefeated Wake Forest on Oct. 14
9/22/2006 11:20:25 AM
Maybe Trestman should give the Princeton Offense a shot.

the Charlotte Observer is definitely a joke of a sports newspaperand I'm in Charlotte and from Charlotte and have been reading it from years and years and eyarsSorenson's actually one of the better writers]

9/22/2006 12:12:38 PM
^come on...you know State fans shoot first and ask questions laterFIRE HERBWELL WHO WILL REPLACE HIM?WHO CARES, FIRE HERB

9/22/2006 12:19:15 PM
9/22/2006 12:24:12 PM
I LIKED HIM FOR A WHILE BUT THIS SEASON PROVES THAT AMATO JUST DOESN'T GET IT......FIRE HIM
9/22/2006 1:08:56 PM
I agree with the article
9/22/2006 1:11:57 PM
OK just for shits and giggles, you would rather State A: lose every remaining game just to get Amato fired,or B: Us go 8-4 for the season and Amato stay around?i'm not saying either will happen, but if you had to choose one of the two what would it be?
9/22/2006 1:29:04 PM
8-4 all fucking day
9/22/2006 1:30:26 PM
my point exactly. people saying they totally agree with the article are also saying:
9/22/2006 1:33:29 PM
well Sorenson likes to stir the pot, without a doubtin this case he does so by saying that the consensus among State fans is that Amato should goEverybody is entitled to their opinions...I personally don't judge ANY coach's worth/value until the end of a season...plus I think mid-season coaching changes never work for a number of reasons, ie chemistry, new system, etc etc etc
9/22/2006 1:35:30 PM
and it has implications years into the future with recruiting.
