Title says it all. An M48, not very heavily used (still needs breaking in, but it's on the less crunchy end of the spectrum for M48s). Refinished, it's real pretty and feels nice.Something about the stock causes it to beat the shit out of my face, and I'm too lazy to sand down the top of the stock to increase drop. My buddy Ben has no trouble with it, so I guess it's just me.Asking $150, includes bayonet, ammo pouch, "cleaning kit" (I've never used the thing, w/e), and a few stripper clips of 1951 Turk (good stuff, but it's not safe for use in a gas-op rifle).Asking $135 w/o bayo.[Edited on September 21, 2006 at 10:34 PM. forgive my ignorance, but how common is mil surp ammo for these?
9/22/2006 11:43:15 AM
yeah, what kinda ammo does it take?
9/22/2006 11:46:32 AM
7.92x57. aka "8mm Mauser".Milsurp is plentiful, to say the least. As in "buy by the spam can for less than ten cents a round" plentiful. I think you can get '50s Yugo (good stuff) for $70/900rds from Century.

I might like to take a gander as well. I'm assuming the barrel is pristine if it hasn't seen much use. Have you ever had the headspace checked? I don't really know much about Turk Mausers, so I don't know if that would even be an issue.

Headspace is dandy. Doesn't close on a NOGO, never mind a FIELD.I have fired it some (round count ~100). Mirror bore, no nicks in the crown or anything. Bullets go where you point them. It's a Yugoslavian Mauser, I'm just including some Turk ammo with the gun.[Edited on September 22, 2006 at 1:37 PM. Reason : .]

ok, I'm very interested and almost willing to give you the $135 for it w/o bayonet... but can I shoot it first? What are you doing tomorrow afternoon?Gotta make sure it doesn't fuck up my face too

Nothing, as far as I know.I'll bring along some Yugo ammo too.Main gripe with the M48s is that, since they were never really used, they are sound but crunchy starting out; from what the Surplusrifle guys tell me, after you've put a few hundred through them, they're a lot better.Or you could go to a gunsmith, but that's no fun.
