We're trying to resurrect an old tool in the lab, and a lot of the control logic is on old perf boards with bad wiring. I'd like to start all over, but they used mercury wetted relays. I figure they used them for a reason, but then again, this tool is pretty old, and I think maybe SSRs weren't good enough back then. Would I be able to use SSRs in place of these old relays and expect similar performance?

I'm pretty new to this kind of thing.

A little mercury never hurt anyone... too much
