SINGED OFF

hahah i made this website for this friend a while back, she runs a restaurant or whatever. anyways she dont speak good english!!1 so im taking care of one of the feedback emails for her.

this guy got "burned" by the oil supposedly from one of the chefs that cooks at the tables. he wants

69.50 for ABERCROMBIE/FITCH SHIRT (SOME SPECIFIC LOGO CRAP)
4.87 SALES TAX
8.95 SHIPPING
-----
83.32

plus 116.68 for "pain, suffering, and aggravation"... grand total 200 even he then proceeds to tell her she can settle up for (4) 50 dollar gift certificates to equal 200 bucks. so he cabn "give them out as gifts to friends". man.....

Quote :
"MY CHEST HAD A FIRST DEGREE BURN APPX 1 INCH IN DIAMETER... mild discomfort for 24 hours"

hahaha also "my shirt had a whole(sic) in it" and he "forsees no long term effects from the injury" -- anyway heres your reminder that there are douchebags everywhere in the world that wanna rip people off. i told her she should tell him to fuck off and save the letter as proof that hes scum. but shes gonna pay him cause shes a nice person. and i have to write him a nice letter back.

i wanna write something like this so bad: here are your 4 gift certificates you fucking scumbag. but i shouldnt do that

what are you talking about? jackleg, unless i misunderstand the guy in the nicest way possible went i believe i should be awarded some compensation, met you half way... and this could potentialy be a lot worse, remember mcd's and coffee? either way he is a douchebag for suing, but he did get burned and he isnt being an ass about it.... your friend lucked out. probably got a loyal customer out of it

Sadly, if he suffered injuries in the restaurant as a customer, he could probably get a whole lot more than what he is asking. Probably a significant amount.

I guess it really all depends on what a reasonable person might expect at this type of establishment.

i realize he could have sued. that is also a douchebag thing too. the right thing to do would be to ask to have the shirt replaced. and not equal out the pain and suffering so the amount rounds up to 200. thats just silly shit.

but im not trying to have that debate

man gets burned
resturant tries to help
man says no, its ok
man later says, buy me a shirt and give me money (or i sue)
resturant pays out
man comes in for food
resturant remembers man
resturant fucks with his food
man eats his food
resturant laughs their ass off at him.

ahhh i didnt need the whole explaination but i do get it now!

they wouldnt fuck with him. they're good folks... like the kind of good folks that get taken advantage of, and i really hate seeing it. thats probably why i get so bent out of shape about stuff like this.

Do you believe he was actually burned in the restaurant? Because there are people out there that send this type of thing like spam to thousands of restaurants just hoping to get a little money from a lot of businesses.

i would have the restaraunts lawyer handle it actually, because by saying "yeah we fucked up, here's some money" doesn't, in any legal way, exclude the restaraunt from being sued down the road later

if this guy is fucked up enough to make ridiculous demands now, who's to say he'll stop later?

^True. I think paying the GC's out would actually be admitting to the accused negligence.

btw...the million dollar reward given in court wasn't given to her IRL...after the trial she settled out of court for what she wanted in the first place, the same amount of money to cover her doctor bills. she was rewarded $480,000 by the judge not the whole 2.9 million that the jury rewarded...and then after she was rewarded even less in an agreement out of court.

the letter specifically says that that is all he wants and that he is already just fine, but this would make him a little happier blah blah. he worded it so that they'd feel sorry for him... but i don't. he mentions that there was no physical damage to him, just that he was uncomfortable for about a day but is perfectly fine now, so i wouldnt worry at all about him suing.

anyways, i said something like... "enclosed are the gift certificates you requested" hahaha

and IF he does decide to sue for millions, then 200 bucks in gcs isnt shit, now is it? but i know what youre saying - and i think youd know what im saying if you saw the letter.

it just really sucks that nice people get taken advantage of like this. apparantly the lady offered to pay for the guy to go to the ER... like genuinely concerned whether or not he was ok

and you know, to some people, thats an invitation to start the scam up im just glad its only 200 bucks worth of free food. i feel ok laughing at it

$200 CASH sounds like a pretty fair compensation for burning a customer, ruining his shirt and his evening. You cant buy a new shirt with GCs.
