So the parents are suing the parking lot for a lack of security?I got a feeling that if they somehow win this ridiculous lawsuit then we are gonna be facing a lot more tailgating restrictions in the future.I think we should launch a campaign where we tell those parents to fuck off.Im sorry your sons got killed and all but if they had more self control it wouldnt have happened and adding 1-2 more officers to the lot wouldn't have prevented a bullet from going through their head.

oh man

what tools
9/19/2006 10:44:43 AM
wtf, this should have happened years agonow its just going to look like they are out for moneyand more restrictions
9/19/2006 10:46:21 AM
Yeah, I read about this last week and saw only more trouble coming. Honestly, there really isn't anything that can be done to stop an action like this specific shooting.

i guess it took the parents this long to tally up the earning potential of their dead kidsand decide if it was financially worth it or not

Considering the game had started any excessive secuirty logically would have followed the fans towards the stadium. THere is little need for presence when 95% of the people are no longer in the lots.
9/19/2006 11:04:20 AM
^^^ yeah right There already is a damn army of police at the games, but that does little to stop people from driving like idiots and acting like idiots. Adding more cops will not have much of an impact. The parents are probably now suing because there is some statute of limitations.[Edited on September 19, 2006 at 11:07 AM. Reason : ^^]

^I dont think thats true. I barely see any officers walking around the lots. There are several at the entrances that could be doing something else besides picking their noses, but the ones that walk around the lots are few and far between.
9/19/2006 11:13:21 AM
yeah, adding officers isn't going to help anything..I mean the best thing they can do is eliminate people w/out parking passes (more than likely non-students) from entering the lot[Edited on September 19, 2006 at 11:29 AM. Reason : sd]

i don't think the parents can really argue anything here. Their sons should not have been in that lot. They did not have tickets, they had no connection to NC State or Richmond, they had absolutely no reason to be in Raleigh at the Fairground lots that day. Therefore, they had no reasonable expectation of security. Had they been ticket holders, they would have been in the stadium and would not have therefore, been shot.
9/19/2006 11:37:14 AM
what? that makes no sense... how can you possibly govern who has a parking pass and who doesn't?did you mean to eliminate people without tickets? that would make some sense, and be possible to manage.however additional police would help... there is definitely the sense of lawlessness out there at times. obviously it can't prevent every possible incident out there, but it can bring some level of deterent to tailgating.

your opinion is all that matters anyway
9/19/2006 11:40:49 AM
yeah, but almost anyone can get a parking pass for the fairgounds lot. All they have to do is get it from a student.
9/19/2006 11:41:34 AM
They are hard to get, but they are easy to copy
9/19/2006 11:42:30 AM
Here's a hint to cops to avoid future incidents. Quit focusing on underage kids, wear your uniforms, focus on the real problems such as rowdy drunks.
9/19/2006 11:46:53 AM
hey man, i havent gotten ID checked all year, the cops ive walked by seem to be lookin around for more serious shit. leave that gay shit up to the ALE
9/19/2006 12:10:47 PM
^^There is a lot of truth to this. A visible i.e. uniformed police presence serves as a much stronger deterrent to crime than undercover ALE, etc.
9/19/2006 12:33:52 PM
i have actually never been ID'd either, but i've heard enough stories to know there is still too much emphasis on catching underage kids minding their business.

and remember that NCSU cut money for public safety at this year's games.... this includes, fire, ems, and law enforcment... this was done after they paid a large $$$ to have a study done to compare NCSU football games to Duke and UNC about how much each spends in public safety, the study said NCSU paid too much, and therefore staffing was cut... NCSU also had no control and is not responsible for providing anything to the surrounding lots, as they are not NCSU property. Now the lots are leased, and therefore they do have a responsibility to provide adequate public safety to them.

Try to think about it through their (the parents) perspective. You would sue too
9/19/2006 2:11:00 PM
It still doesn't make it right.
9/19/2006 2:14:25 PM
If my drunkass son went around beating the fuck out of people and then eventually got shot i would NOT sue the parking lot that his drunkass was running around beating people up in.Fuck these parents. If they ruin tailgating for the next 10 genereations of NC State students/fans then they deserve to rot in hell. What is going to happen when the parking lot and the leasees realize that the potential law suits, insurance premiums are not worth it anymore. They will close the lots. All because of some overzealous parents that believe that just because their son is dead that the rest of the world should suffer. There are starving kids in Malaysia they should be worrying about if they want to take up for a noble cause. All I'm asking is that we are allowed to drink beer in a parking lot. That's not too much.[Edited on September 19, 2006 at 2:19 PM. Reason : a]

What we could do is find out where these parents live and tailgate in their yard.
