Seriously. It takes about ten minutes at the most to install and the bar works almost every important portion of your upper torso (arms, chest, abs). The bar is $13 at Wal-mart. Go get one!

there are atleast 17 in the gym and 3 of those pussy assisted ones. there are more if you count the smith racks and squat racks. Here's the kicker---they are paid for out of your tuition.
9/18/2006 1:14:22 AM
I say you just flushed 13 dollars.
9/18/2006 1:22:13 AM
i disagree.yes, use the ones at the gym, but having one at your house so that you can conveniently do some pull ups every day will definitely help you out. i had one at work one time, and went from doing 23-24 pull ups to 27 pull ups within a couple of months.but i wouldn't count on pull-ups to do much for your chest or abs (or shoulders, triceps, or a myriad of other upper body muscles). they're awesome for back, though. once you can do a dozen or so good dead-hang pull-ups, start doing them with weight.

I put in a chin-up bar in a door frame in my apartment. Yesterday, I was removing the screws just before I had company over to put it on another door frame. A friend came over, tried to do a pull-up, and SMACK.... rips it out and busts his ass on my floor.[Edited on September 18, 2006 at 1:36 AM. Reason : >]

Shit. I had it in my room's door frame but the door wouldn't close so I put it in my closet. I really hate the downside that you basically need an electric drill to get it started but I will re-iterate: every American should have one.

dont call me a bitch or anything, but i just bought an ab slide and this thing is the bomb. i'm noticing some pretty immediate results. my next purchase: a pull-up bar. being able to do these exercises at home is extremely convenient and makes me a lot more likely to do them on a regular basis. i realize i could do sit ups instead of the ab slide (which was $10 at play it again sports), but this thing is going to work wonders, i can already tell.
9/18/2006 1:39:16 AM
ok normally I would roll my eyes at you but the pull up bar is such simple physics that I have no ground to stand on. just get one and you can help america be less pathetic.
9/18/2006 1:40:24 AM
meh, to each his own. Going to the gym is my motivation to go to campus in the mornings. Its part of my routine. I like my routine. If it helps you more, whatever.
9/18/2006 1:42:19 AM
to each their own, and I agree with you man. I just feel like: shit, this kind of EXERCISE should be mandatory. I am just amazed at how rapidly I improved at it.
9/18/2006 1:43:46 AM
How many can you do?
9/18/2006 2:12:32 AM
Honestly, if the dude wants to roll out of bed, bust out some situps, pushups, and pull ups right next to his bed, shower, and start his day..why bitch at him? At least he's trying.
9/18/2006 2:19:07 AM
I want to get one, but I'm afraid that I'm going to rip the thing out of the wall
9/18/2006 2:27:19 AM
^get the kind that just hangs on the doorframe and puts most of the pressure/weight into the wall (and not on the frame).

9/18/2006 1:46:21 PM
the chin up bar?
9/18/2006 1:52:32 PM
^^My roommate has one that snaps inbetween his door frame.^Chin bars for everyone![Edited on September 18, 2006 at 1:54 PM. Reason : merf]

you drill holes in your doorway and then screw the barholder in. it takes like 3 minutes.
9/18/2006 4:14:18 PM
This is one of the many reasons why I dislike fat people. Something cheap and easy like this plus 20 minutes of jogging/running a day and MOST people can get in shape... at least enought to not disgust.[Edited on September 18, 2006 at 4:19 PM. Reason : x]

I got a power rack at home and not sure if I can do any chins up or not. If I can get a chinup bar for around $15, I may do that.
