I used triangle auto glass one time. they were not expensive and the work seemed to be good.

I'll probably catch hell for it but "Safelite" I had them put a new rear windshield in my Jetta and i was very please. they will come out to your house the day after u call, take out and clean up all old glass, and put in new one within 2 hours- if ur at work, they will do it while ur their. I only paid $140 i think with a small discount, and they give a lifetime warranty

yeh i looked into them, but i know a guy in the biz who said their glass sucks fitmentwise on certain cars and E36s are one of them. *shrug*

i always use glassmasters just because it doesn't cost me anything and they do give good service. however, even though i haven't had any issues with their windshields, they don't use "brand name" glass. and yes, to those who feel there isn't a difference in auto glass, there is!!
9/18/2006 9:41:44 AM
actually i think i've settled on glass masters (Durham) after a few good experiences w/ E36 guys i know. They have really good prices ($160 sedan, $170 coupe w/ tax since i'm getting two cars done. thats about $50 less than average each). They said they also use LOF or Pilkington glass which are OE suppliers. I want PPG, LOF, or Pilk so im happy.

do you not have full coverage?
9/18/2006 10:21:42 AM
its not worth messing w/ insurance for $160. oh if you mean like free glass through GEICO, etc they only do repairs and not replacements :/
9/18/2006 10:41:10 AM
no, i mean glassmasters will do your windshield for free if you have full coverage with a $100 comp. deductible. they'll do all the processing of paperwork, etc.
9/19/2006 9:12:26 AM
who the heck has a $100 deductable? mines $500 and $170 for a new windshield aint shit.word to the wise. Glass masters in Durham is like $50 cheaper than the glass masters in raleigh. Theyre using LOF/Pilkington glass and new seals. HOLLA AT YA, DURHAM!
9/19/2006 9:19:27 AM
what is the point of having comprehensive coverage if you have a $500 deductible? it is absolutely fucking pointless to even have it on the policy with a deductible that high. are you sure you're not thinking of collision?
9/19/2006 9:52:19 AM
ummmmmmmm im confused.i have full coverage. if i mess up someone else's stuff, theres no deductable. if i mess up my own stuff, i have a $500 deductable. isnt that all there is to it?
9/19/2006 10:01:52 AM
what happened to your windshield?
9/19/2006 10:11:14 AM
hah i broke PJ's on our 12 hour drive home from Miami where we JUST got his new car.I was bored and was trying to fix the rearview mirror... next thing i know i heard a CRACK/POP.

9/19/2006 10:23:44 AM
right, and thats how i want it. the cost in insurance to go to a $100 deductable is more than the $170 out of pocket every few years.
9/19/2006 10:33:08 AM
I have a $200 deductible w/all state. Full coverage (1mil/person, rental car, uninsured motorist, etc. the most they offer) only costs me $400/6 months. I have my homeowners insurance through them as well, but my driving record's not spotless. They've replaced a windshield on my sisters car for free before. It's worth a call, a lot of comprehensive packages include free windshields (usually something like 2/year).Ahmet
9/19/2006 10:37:53 AM
yeh allstate's real good about combo deals i hear. what i'm at now is $430/six w/ geico
9/19/2006 10:46:31 AM
I thought windshields deductibles are different for some reason. I think I remember having a $500 deductible on one car, but the windshield only cost me $100 to get replaced through insurance.
9/19/2006 11:20:53 AM
hrm yeh i think that sounds right
9/19/2006 11:26:03 AM
^^they are. i guess i need to explain how insurance works for the other two idiots in the thread.there are two types of coverage. collision and comprehensive. collision will cover your repair costs (minus deductible) when your non-driving ass slams into the back of the person in front of you because you were too busy eating that nasty ass bigmac. comprehensive will cover shit like windshields, if your car gets broke into, somebody slashes your tire, keys your car, etc. usually people set the deductibles high on collision since they feel the risk is minimal of slamming into the back of somebody but if they only knew how good that bigmac was going to be. anyway, the higher the deductible, the lower the cost. collision deductibles usually range from $250-$1000 with the average being $500. comprehensive deductibles ususally range from $0-$250 since anything higher would be a waste and would limit the owner to getting almost absolutely no use out of the comp. coverage since almost everything would be less than the deductible. danny, check the back of your insurance card. your deductibles for both should be listed if you have full coverage. if not, just call your ins. co.
9/19/2006 11:42:06 AM
yeah- I;ve got a $500 deductable which sucks in most cases but just got a football size dent in the rear quarter- $2400 to fix so that deductable doesn;t seem so shitty anymore-
9/19/2006 12:37:45 PM
Geico calls it "Collision" and "other than collision". both deductables are $500 for me. i suppose i can see how my rates would change if lowered the non collision
