Put your number on the Do Not Call list.

I thought there was a law pending that made this type of activity illegal and they could be fined? You might ask the "do not call" people...

isn't there some sort of anti-harrassment law that goes along with telemarketing? and legally, the minute you tell them you no longer want to receive calls from them, they aren't supposed to call again. keep a log of every time they call and your response & find out who the supervisor is. there are huge fines when they don't follow the rules.

You can get something like $100 for every time they call you once you tell them not to call you again. Just write down every time they call, and the person's name who called you.

yeah there's a fine for it but I think you (the person getting called) have to prove they knew not to call you etc. so they do teach the reps to hang up before you get totally through what you have to say. The best way I've found is to actually spend time on the phone with them and act very interested - they'll take your name and other info, you get theirs so you know who to help out with "credit" on the "sale" to you, then at the last minute you pull some shit like "You've been really helpful! Is your manager around? I'd love to tell him/her how nice you've been today." usually they're dumb enough to do it, and that's when you tell them the rep has your information, don't call me again. I haven't had ANY calls from ANY telemarketers for about 5 years.Want to get rid of junk mail? Use the postage-paid return envelopes to send them coupons or ads for their competitors. After a while they figure out you're costing them money to process the incoming mail and they go out of their way to take you off the list. We don't get much junk mail any more except some credit offers since our pre-screen block expired, and those will go away soon since I put us on the permanent block list.ENJOY!

^ Those postage-paid envelopes can be taped on ANYTHING. Including tires and pieces of slate.

use your caller-id. next time they call, you must say, "I am recording this phone call. I do not want you to call this number anymore and take my name off your list. If you call here again, I will pursue legal action.". by law, you must do this before you can take any legal action but rest assure they won't call anymore.

yeah but if they hang up before you finish can't they sneak through the loophole?

no, the judge will fine their ass for intentionqaly flaunting the law by hanging up, esp if you have legal recordings proving such.
