So the last few days when I've woken up in the morning, my left ear has been shut..."sounded" similar to when you have water in your ears...more muffled than just pressurized/airplane ear...have to work at it for a minute to get it back openI have been feeling under the weather for the last couple days...am I getting some kind of sinus drip into my ear canals most likely from sleeping with my head tilted a certain direction? Any ideas?

Nasal Lavage. http://www.mayoclinic.com/health/nasal-lavage/MM005521/4 tsp salt, 1/4 tsp baking soda, 1 cup of warm water is better than just salt water because its closer to your bodies pH and won't sting. I also like keeping my head sideways so it runs out the other nostril.I know it seems weird but it works great for clearing out your sinuses (think when you accidently inhale sea or pool water and how much it cleans out your sinuses). I started using it when I became to reliant on nasal steroids and it definitely helps.Pick up some sudafed too... it should help dry you out.

When I recently started smoking, I also started waking up able to feel my sinuses; that had never happened before. There has been more drainage than usual and I have gotten sick once since starting (sinus type infection). I haven't quit smoking, though, because I like it too much, but if these things get worse, I probably will.I'd suggest that your problem is also related to the smoking and if it bothers you, quit smoking.

well i've been smoking for years and this only started a couple days agodunno about pouring something in one nostril and out the other though

If you don't want to pour it in then mix some up in a bottle and next yime you are in the shower pour some in the palm of your han d and sniff it up your nose then blow it out... its not as effective but will still loosen up the mucus and irrigate some.

I'm telling you, Tree... do the nasal lavage (^^). DO not pour water in your ear, that will likely get you an ear infection. 1/4 tsp salt, 1/4 tsp baking soda, 1 cup of warm water poured through your nostrils as shown above. You can also put it in the palm of your hand and snort/sniff it then blow it out but its not as effective. Oh, also get some Sudafed to help dry your sinuses.

TreeTwista, I'm feeling what your saying. I'm quitting dipping and started smoking again to get a smaller dosage of nicotine while i quit. I've been having "pressurization" problems in my ears lately, throat has a shit ton of mucus, and under the weather. Pretty sure though it is because a cold is going around State, but not sure.

Well after trying some decongestant to no luck, I got some ear drops at Eckerd's...after using them once (tilt head to side, drop 5-10 drops, leave for a few minutes, allow to drain, remove excess wax with warm water/q-tips) I am not clear but I can tell a difference...I think a few more applications will do the trickI'm not really under the weather mdpaintbal because my right ear, as well as nose, mouth, lungs, etc are pretty good (for a smoker)...but I can tell a difference after just one use of those drops

Lucky, I have used those drops before, the ones designed for swimmers basically. It's not really being sick, more like a sinus problem, causing draining affecting my throat and the coughing comes from the desire to unclog the drainage. Oh well, let me know if you find a way to release the ear pressure and hopefully it will work for myself as well. All I can see my future to gain an upperhand on this sinus problem is more Bud Light.
