Overpaying for movies and TV shows has nothing to do with being a fanboy. I do think it's pretty stupid however.
9/12/2006 3:23:49 PM
itunes is some junk
9/12/2006 3:44:26 PM
9/12/2006 4:55:54 PM
I'll stick to free.
9/12/2006 5:01:10 PM

9/12/2006 5:03:51 PM
so this thing where it says you can download the cover artwork for all your cds...is it free? cause it says you have to make an itunes store account or do you have to pay?
9/12/2006 5:56:31 PM
9/12/2006 5:59:00 PM
well thatd be gay, its just a damn little jpeg, i mean itd just be nice cause some of mp3s have the cover and some dont
9/12/2006 6:01:51 PM

9/12/2006 6:02:28 PM

9/12/2006 6:27:48 PM

According to the popup window that comes up when you enable cover art download, they don't save any info.It also has a new cool Cover Flow browsing interface to browse by album art. Also of note is that the new iPods can apparently play 640x480 MPEG4 and MPEG4-AVC content back at full 30 FPS.
9/12/2006 6:40:47 PM
fuck that, want my credit card info just to make an account
9/12/2006 6:47:58 PM
have they fixed the problems where the UI sucks and its bloatware?
9/12/2006 7:38:05 PM
i wouldn't know cause i didn't agree with the above statement...but the UI is different
9/12/2006 7:46:02 PM
So the new iTunes playback becomes all crackly and full of pops after about ten minutes of play.wtf.Time to find and reinstall the old version.
9/13/2006 11:47:17 AM
That's probably something with your computer.
9/13/2006 11:50:40 AM
No previous version of iTunes, nor any other software for that matter, has ever done this.I'm not saying it has nothing to do with my computer, but the source is obviously iTunes 7.
9/13/2006 12:04:34 PM
Yeah, mine started crackling too, and was also playing 95% of the sound out of my front two speakers (got a 5.1 system.) I then opened Windows media player to see what was up and the music played through all my speakers like it is supposed to. So yeah, there are definitely some sound issues with the latest iTunes.
9/13/2006 12:09:37 PM
This auto-get-artwork thing serves as a good reminder of how little is really available on iTunes.
9/13/2006 12:10:35 PM
9/13/2006 12:40:03 PM
i'm having horrible playback issues as well. let me know if you figure out why
9/13/2006 1:05:26 PM
I read some stuff on apple's official itunes boards, and apparently it changes some of the Quicktime settings which can cause some of these problems. Messing with those settings helped some of those people. The topic is here http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=637584&tstart=0. I haven't tried any of it yet since I'm at work.
9/13/2006 1:11:10 PM
I think i will stick with the current version until they fix that shit.
9/13/2006 1:17:32 PM
ditto
9/13/2006 1:18:43 PM
wierd...i haven't experienced that problem *yet* lol...so hopefully i haven't just jinxed myself
9/13/2006 1:32:40 PM
I changed it to 48 khz and it got MUCH worse.
9/13/2006 1:34:47 PM
9/13/2006 1:35:09 PM
k, i got it fixed. open up quicktime's preferences, and under the audio tab, check it to 48 kHz and 16 bit size. make sure to restart itunes after changing that.
9/13/2006 2:35:58 PM
I have tried it at every bit rate, doesn't fix the problem.Updated drivers, didn't fix the problem.
9/13/2006 3:42:36 PM
wmp, problem solved
9/13/2006 4:17:47 PM

its not convenient for me to have to set up my DVR and record the shows and then have to delete them because i ran out of space....this is money wasted since any time i sit infront of my TV its either to A) watch an HD DVD or B) play Xbox 360 or C) watch the world cup (which is only every 4 years)....plus i was paying $89 just for cable tvhowever...by spending less money i can watch my favorite tv shows anytime i want, download them only when i feel like watching it...keep it forever, watch it on a road trip in the car, in the plane, sitting at the doctors office for hours....etc...I can also watch it in my office while 'working' or doing something else on the computer.not saying this applies for everyone but for me its much more convenient. Plus i only pay for what i watch...i some times go a month or two without watching any tv show...or even turning on my TV which means i just wasted $89/monthPlus shows like Monk and Psych don't have a new episode coming on everyweek. Also same applies to Lost, desperate housewives and Law and Order....the networks usually have a dead week where its just a repeat of the week before...so its really more accurate to calculate $2 x how many episodes in a season...vs per week per month.[Edited on September 13, 2006 at 5:19 PM. 9/13/2006 5:17:49 PM
Fuck that. You can download HD rips for free.
9/13/2006 5:59:07 PM
time is money.waiting 4 days for one episode to download because not everyone out there likes it as much as you so there is only 1 or 2 seeds if you're lucky, is not my idea of efficent or onDemmand.
9/13/2006 6:07:27 PM
the pain costs involved in itunes and apple drm are enough to keep me away from them forever.then they go and add a $2 charge for a low quality rip.nothx.
9/13/2006 6:17:33 PM
its not for everyone...we know this.
9/13/2006 6:31:39 PM
9/13/2006 7:26:54 PM
microsoft could crush some folks if they offered a subscription video service that let you watch unlimited movies and shows in WMplayer, 360, and zune.
9/13/2006 7:39:11 PM
9/13/2006 8:37:25 PM
I am listening to Dark Side of the Moon to celebrate the arrival of gapless playback. And yes, I know some shitty Windows player had that 984234142343 years ago. iTunes was already the best, but picking up long-needed features sweetens the deal.
9/13/2006 10:27:47 PM
wmp 10&11 are far from shitty and beat the pants off of itunes
9/14/2006 12:57:03 AM
