'cause I do!If I get pretty cushy sometime soon, the GTO will be at the top of my list. Make mine black. One question: will corvette parts be a bolt-on affair for this thing? Lets hear it for the GTO

i like them as well. they are nice inside and power for that money is hard to beat.
9/11/2006 9:57:48 PM
I like emUnderstated design and lots of power
9/11/2006 9:58:27 PM
got one for a loaner through a hookup at bobby murray when my truck was in for recall work, and i'm pretty damn sure they had to put new tires on it after 120 miles
9/11/2006 10:06:14 PM
I like them but I like the Hemi Charger and the forthcoming Challenger more. They better resemble the 60's & 70's muscle cars. The new Camaro will be hot also if it gets built -- I may even grow a mullet and go get one.
9/11/2006 10:06:15 PM
its a pontiac. my old roommate has one of those new Grand Prix's or whatever and he told me he wanted to trade it in for the solsist (sp?)...i couldn't help but laugh...
9/11/2006 10:15:46 PM
i love those gto's. i want one........badly. too bad i'm poor
9/11/2006 10:16:03 PM
i dont like the body, but got beside one on 40 earlier and we had to see what each other had
9/11/2006 10:31:57 PM
what did you had?i like them too... i just wish its ford twin was here .... the falcons are secksy
9/11/2006 10:39:49 PM
the new ones with the ls2 are pretty damn stout cars. i got to play with alot of the older ls1 powered ones when i was working at thompson. alot of people bash the design, but personally i like it. it's not wild or cutting edge, but it's still attractive. to me, i want it to look like a grand prix to the idiot beside me...^^^^^i WILL own a challenger...[Edited on September 11, 2006 at 10:40 PM. hemi + 6 speed =
9/11/2006 10:43:03 PM
...thinks it's a cadillac
9/12/2006 12:11:51 AM
The Camaro will be the top of the heap, Corvette aside.I like the GTO, not better than the Camaro, but my main complaint was that its fuel economy is/was SHIT. I think they will add cylinder deactivation like in the Vette/Camaro with the redesign, because honestly right now my old Z-28 gets better mileage than a damn new GTO does. Its horrendous.
9/12/2006 12:12:22 AM
^where are you getting that from? gto real world fuel economy is only slightly less than comparable f-bodys (heavier). i mean hell, it's the same drivetrain (save the new ls2's since the f-body isn't made anymore). i don't know what you get, but my 4th gen z28 6 speed never did much better than mid 20's in stock trim.
9/12/2006 12:17:47 AM
not a fan
9/12/2006 12:25:38 AM
the only thing cool about the GTOis the volume and wiper speed scale with you velocityall cars should do this ...
9/12/2006 12:27:09 AM
I'd own it. And whack off on it daily.
9/12/2006 12:27:12 AM
the gto is 16mpg city and 21mpg hwy - that's not quite mid 20s
9/12/2006 12:27:49 AM
9/12/2006 12:32:07 AM
^^that's the a4 only, the 6m does a good bit better. in comparison, the a4 4th gens were rated at 24 but i've never seen one actually get anywhere close to that, where as the gto's seem to be pretty on point with their rating if not a little better in some cases.[Edited on September 12, 2006 at 12:33 AM. IF I BUY ONE OF THESE CARS AND IT DOES BETTER THAN 12, I'LL BE PRETTY FUCKING HAPPY
9/12/2006 12:33:50 AM
yeah, really... it's a mute point, if you're that worried about mpg you're not interested in one of these cars.
9/12/2006 12:40:28 AM
moot point*^
9/12/2006 12:54:28 AM
Yea sorry I was pointing to the fact that it got like 14/16 when the damn Vette, even the Z06 got like 18/29. or something like that. Even at its worst with a fucking huge engine it was getting a lot better fuel economy than the GTO.Ah I see on Edmunds the new one is 24/32. MUCH better. The original ones fuel economy was pretty horrendous.
9/12/2006 7:15:39 AM
what's a mute point?
9/12/2006 11:44:18 AM
It's a cows opinion.
9/12/2006 12:44:30 PM
Its moo.
9/12/2006 1:07:56 PM
YeaThe GTO is a Holden and the Solstice is basically a Vauxhall. Both are quality cars.
9/12/2006 1:29:08 PM
GTO's are so sexyI just wish they werent 4000lbs  and the flowery wheels gotta go
9/12/2006 4:57:26 PM
9/12/2006 4:58:47 PM
^ I hate how pontiac tried to convince the american public it was a "new" car, when really it was just a monaro
9/12/2006 5:41:52 PM
9/12/2006 7:12:48 PM
tcheng you are asain and could do much better.
9/12/2006 7:22:02 PM
^The Solstice/Sky is a completely different platform than the Vauxhall. Not sure where anyone got that idea.
9/12/2006 9:03:56 PM
The Vaux is about as much lotus as a Ford GT.
9/12/2006 9:05:58 PM
solstice/sky = opel gt
9/12/2006 9:12:56 PM
I think the design came out of Britian though.
9/12/2006 9:13:44 PM
9/12/2006 9:13:50 PM
umm if I'm correctits 4 bolt and has siamese bores
9/12/2006 9:41:21 PM
actually, the soltice/sky is kind of a clusterfuck as far as design, origination, etc. i went through some of it a while back when both were unveiled, but haven't done much research since.both are based off the kappa platform, which i believe is actually a north american gm design. it's a parts bin design, meaning it includes off the shelf parts from a wide variety of gm brands/models. the design came mostly from vauxhall, being based on their 2 seat roadster that was unveiled in europe a while before the solstice/sky. where opel plays in i can't quite remember... but they have a rebadged version of either the vauxhall or the saturn. personally, i like them. the base models are underpowered, but the price is very attractive compared to the miata, mr2 spyder, etc. the power issue has been remedied this year with the turbo models, which is still a bargain at ~26k base sticker price. i've only driven a n/a soltice, and while boringly slow in a straight line it's a blast to drive otherwise. not as refined as other 2 seat roadsters i've driven, but isn't that alot of the point of one to be exposed to such mechanical aspects?
9/12/2006 10:25:18 PM
i think they both look good but are ruined by oversized company logos
9/12/2006 10:57:49 PM
9/12/2006 11:05:17 PM
my dad is a huge gto fan (60's goats)he has a restored 64 (we did the restoration), a 64 vert in the process of restoring, and a 67 vert in the process of restoring.i will own one of the ls2 powered gtos one day....i love those cars
9/12/2006 11:17:24 PM
They should've sold it as a Holden.
9/12/2006 11:37:01 PM
^agreed.
9/13/2006 12:11:26 AM
is opel now called vauxhall?
9/13/2006 12:21:04 AM
No. Vauxhall is UK, and europe. Opel, iirc, is south america.they're both gm companies, like Holden is in Australia.[Edited on September 13, 2006 at 12:48 AM. Reason : asdf]
9/13/2006 12:48:24 AM
Opel is German.
9/13/2006 12:48:51 AM
opel all up in europe, but i think saying opel over there is like sayin.. well.. GM over here. they have gotten really unpopular in the last few yearsi was wondering about vauxhall cause on their website they have a ton of rebadged opels.. they didn't even care to cange the model name. just slapped the logo on. and being so geographically close to each other, they should differentiate themselves somehow.[Edited on September 13, 2006 at 12:55 AM.
