for problem 3.11 of the homework due tomorrow, i'm having trouble finding the net pump work of the cycle. because of the exhaust process including a blowdown and exhaust stroke i'm unsure of how to actually calculate the exhaust portion. my line of thinking is this:

net pump work = intake process + exhaust process
intake process = work from 6-1
exhaust process = work from the blowdown 4-7 and then work from the exhaust stroke 7-1 + 1-6 with the work 6-1 cancelling the work 1-6.
therefore, net pump work would only involve the work from 4-7 and 7-1

is this right or wrong because other people have tried different ways?

how do you find the mass of the fuel for problem 3.8?

do we just assume there is no exhaust residual?
