What are the tests like?

We don't seem to do much except just listen to him lecture.

i generally had no idea on his tests, but he grades really leniently

like if it is a multiple choice question with 3 possible answers, the correct answer would be worth 5 points, the half-correct answer would be worth 3 points, and the completely wrong question would be worth 1 point

Would you say just going over the HW is good enough, or look through the maze of lectures?

hw + practice test is the best bet, but there will still be stuff on the test not covered by either

he'll pull a problem or three out of the book and/or lectures

if this is the guy i had...it was pretty boring. the guy knows his stuff but seems better suited for reasearch etc than teaching. decent guy tho.
