check it outredbullmusiclabs.com Have your music mastered by professionals and have them help you create your own music. There's a informative video and then some other stuff, but post any questions here. Red Bull is really looking to help the "little guys" here and bring out the local vibe of raleigh and the surrounding communities. This is only happening here and in San Francisco this semester and is the last time it will be put on after touring the world.

Mastering is usually pointless for home studio/low budget recordings. The first two White Stripes albums weren't mastered and they sound fine (just as an example). On top of that, I'm not going to pimp Red Bull on a record sleeve or in public just because I got a cheap/free mastering job.

you spelled ewok wrong

Some recording engineer on myspace sent me a message like WASUP DOOD YOU SHOULD PAY ME TO RECORD YOUR SHIT.As if the recording quality was the problem.

red bull product placement in snakes on a plane was ridiculoushe drinks one after he stops riding the bike and then a couple 6 packs are conveniently sitting right beside the TV during the murder news story
9/10/2006 12:21:33 AM
chances are "aspiring" musicians need to be working on their songwriting skills, not whether or not their creepy 3 minute love song about a girl who they don't know is properly mastered.
9/10/2006 1:37:19 AM
I think you guys are missing the point here. Red Bull is putting on a clinic to teach kids how to use music editing software and produce their own stuff. It is more of an educational thing.

In other words, ewalk is a Red Bull shill who is trying to act like Red Bull is different than every other corporation in the world.
9/10/2006 2:06:42 PM
Alright guys, I'm not trying to get in a big argument here about advertising campaigns....all I'm doin is trying to let people know about a great opportunity to learn about music editing and production. I think we can all agree that spending big money on something like this is not gonna have as much of an effect as making tv ads. Red Bull is just trying to help out people here. So if you know anybody that wants to break into the music world and learn how, then send them to redbullmusiclabs.com.PS. Red Bull is shelling out BIG $ to make this happen. Just think how much it cost to rent out an area, buy all the equipment, hire professionals (fly them in), rent out a whole bar to have a promo party, and then take the best tracks and then give them out for free worldwide to show peoples talent. This is not cheap.[Edited on September 10, 2006 at 6:39 PM. Reason : .]

I don't have a problem with the fact that Red Bull is offering something that can be taken advantage of. I have a problem with the fact that you're trying to act like they're doing this because they're the most benevolent corporation on earth. You said it yourself:

I've forgotten more about music than you'll ever know.Like I said, it's probably a great opportunity for some people, but Red Bull wouldn't be doing it if there wasn't something in it for them.TWW is about general idiocy. Never forget that. For example, TWW is about using a plethora of derogatory nouns. You have choices other than "douche" or the more exotic "douchebag."You're still a shill.

If it says that I'm a fatass who only has ten friends and watches Canadian television at 2 AM while posting on the internet while you spend that time working for Red Bull and looking up my old posts, then you're correct.BTW, I'd like to state that I have no problem with this program. Personally, I find it hard to believe that anyone with truly good material is going to 1) have trouble figuring out how to use Pro Tools or a Tascam 424 or 2) have to worry, in 2006, about recording quality sabotaging their shot at an offer sheet, but whatever. I also have no problem with the fact that ewalk works for Red Bull.I do have a problem with shills, though.[Edited on September 11, 2006 at 1:49 AM. Reason : carlos tevez]

hahaha...the funny part here is i am actually having to continue talking shit to you after I have told you off 4 different times (dude give up....it's not gonna happen), and keep making you look like a fool......i think Mr. T has something to say about you.oh wait, perhaps you can find a error in my grammer or spelling on a message board (this could get you MAD props from the rest of the community if you point them out.......i really recommend taking this route)

Just admit you work for Red Bull. That's all I'm looking for.TheBrewery pimps his own shit all the time. It might be kind of annoying, but at least he's honest.Red Bull has given me plenty of shit, btw. They've donated tons of free product for improv marathons and whatnot. So there's where I stand on the ol' home office. On another note, I don't see anything on the site about mastering. Maybe I'm missing it.[Edited on September 11, 2006 at 2:24 AM. Reason : 4]

1. shill A person engaged in covert advertising. The shill attempts to spread buzz by personally endorsing the product in public forums with the pretense of sincerity, when in fact he is being paid for his services.hey dumbass, didn't i just say i was getting paid to do this and present opportunities to college students?are you really that fucking dumb?i dont mind being called a shill, but doesn't the definition include "covert advertising"? dumbasses like you can't even read a fucking definition. let me spell it out for the dumbasses out there, i get paid to present opportunities to college students which do not cost them anything, yet help them advance their talents.i think i already said to quit wasting my time and your time (which you are not being paid for) posting the obvious.[Edited on September 11, 2006 at 2:36 AM. It was obvious that you worked for Red Bull but you did not express that you did. All it takes in a situation like this is a friendly note as such. Anyone that doesn't do so is a shill.I checked out the site:First, I see nothing about mastering.Second, I see three people listed under lecturers. Two are guys I've never heard of (not even in TapeOp), and one is a hack.Call me when Steve Albini and Daniel Lanois (who is also a hack, but one of note) are on this thing and I might consider handing away my rights to get in.

Okay, time to come clean.I'm the real shill.I also work for Red Bull, and I was trying to get ewalk to elaborate on the benefits of this program and tell TWWers about the things that would go on. Instead, he cursed a lot at a prospective participant. So anyway, check out the site if you are or know someone who likes to make music but doesn't know much about making records or doesn't have the cash to put together a recording rig or get in a studio.[Edited on September 11, 2006 at 2:55 AM. 9/11/2006 2:55:57 AM
it's fucking hilarious how TWW pisses off the people who come on here trying to promote some corporate shit. this reminds me of the thread where the guy is trying to push microsoft, but ends up calling everyone in the thread faggots or something. i wonder how red bull would feel if they knew their promotions amounted to "YUO FUCKIN DUMBASS!!11" on a college messageboard.
