if i remember correctly you can't sell a turtle under 3 inches across. bigger turtles can be sold i think.

FDA in NC prohibits the sale of turtles in the state due to salmonella....so technically it is not legal to sell turtles within the state.

^^i think it is illegal to distribute as well, and i ordered livestock for the petstore i worked at and none of the suppliers could legally sell to us, even though they were out of state

I had a guitar teacher one time that played with turtle shell thumbpicks. Apparently, they're very illegal to own. He said he's seen people get cuffed at bluegrass festivals for selling them in the vendor streets.
