Hey,I want to get my friend a pretty high quality folding knife (probalby the max lenght legal to carry) any way. I want something thats a good quality knife, but not looking to spend 300 bux. Yes im sure Joes custom spring steel knife hand crafted in his backyard is great, but im happy with something that will last a while.Im planning on getting it ingraved, so if you suggest a place where i can get the knife and have it engraved that would be a plusalso if they have red or a state themed knife would be a bonus. But again i want quality over any decorative crap.http://www.dantesknife.com/combat.htmRight now im looking on that page.Any reccomendations.

Well if you're not looking to spend 300, I suggest spyderco they have a blade that will last longer than you will

If you want a truly quality knife, go for SOG kniveshttp://www.sogknives.com/home.htmBest knives I've ever owned, and I have owned quite a few. I carried one on my LCE in the army.

If you are looking for something a little less baller, Ontario Knives are the best bang for the buckhttp://www.ontarioknife.com/catalog.html

http://www.benchmade.com/products/product_detail.aspx?model=556I carry this everywhere. It is top quality short of a custom built one.

This thread is so full of dumb.

I've got the Benchmade mini-Griptillian that foShizzle posted and I've got to agree that it's the best <$60 pocket knife that I've come across. The lock on the Benchmade is superior to everything else I own with the Spydercos in a close second.

Where can i pick up one of them benchmades and have it engraved
9/5/2006 9:58:00 AM
PM Firebreather (my roommate)...He knows more about knives than I know about Porn... and baby, let me tell you... That's a lot...
9/5/2006 9:58:30 AM

9/5/2006 10:19:30 AM

9/5/2006 10:31:13 AM

9/5/2006 10:48:43 AM
I own both a Benchmade (Pardue) and SOG. Both are excellent and are laser shape. My benchmade will shave your face better then a Mach III.
9/5/2006 10:48:46 AM
This knife is for a girl, rainbow might be a littel approprate.
9/5/2006 1:12:13 PM
Benchmade and Fallkniven are very good, but expensive, spyderco and gerber make verrrry good knives per low cost.

microtech is a good bet, a great, tough daily carry. I carry a strider with a re-profiled edge, or a custo elishewitz but those may be over your price range. chris reeve small sebenzas, or a spyderco military is also a good one.For steels I like S30V and BG-42. stay away from anything with AUS6 or 8, any 440's too. (cheap, high chromium content stainless steels.)For about $300 I could build you a nice folder out of high quality materials to exactly what you want, but I'd probably just get one of the above.

get a CR: m16-Z, aka black handle. If you want red that bad, use red enamel to cover the bare grey steel at the bottom of the holes in the handgrip pannels. My knifw has a medalion with my initials on ti fitted into the handles that way. They will last forever and then soem, and the dual lock works great.

I just bought my fiance this knife:https://www.bokerusa.com/default2.aspIts the Jim Wagoner reality blade. IT IS JUST small enough to carry, and it actually has to be carried on the outside of your pocket.he loves it! There are two sizes, he cuts a lot of rope so its awesome for him.

Anyone know where i can buy one and have it engraved?
9/5/2006 5:57:40 PM
ignore all posts above, go with this, Smith & Wesson S.W.A.T. knife, make sure it's the medium/large model, i've had one for a while now, it's top notch and you can get it for under 40 buck, 25 if you go to the gun/knife show at the fairgrounds. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=6558146278&category=73530

^dude hit it on the head....I've kept a S&W in my tackle box for 2 years now, haven't oiled it and it hasn't rusted. Action is smooth and quick. Also it holds an edge well.As far as legal for "concealed carry", it might be longer than the legal limit, but i haven't heard of anyone getting a ticket for carrying a knive before.
9/5/2006 10:49:41 PM
heres the knife i have nowI like this knife a whole lot better than my old knife. Its a steel frame, which means its real solid in my hand, but not extremely heavy since its like a skeleton. Really nice to holdI got mine at dick's for $20, i probably could have gotten it cheaper if i would have done some searching, but i had a dick's gift card for 20As far as engraving goes, just go to a jeweler, they should be able to do it, or they would know who you should talk to

http://www.eknifeworks.comthey have everything. depending on the amount of useage. Occasional use you may want to get a frost or smith and wesson. For a nice knife go with spiderco, kershaw, or gerberI never recommend spending more than 100 bucks on a pocket knife. Not because the quality doesn't go up dramatically, but because you always run the risk of simply losing your knife. Me and my boys chipped in and got the Recon 1 as a birthday gift, a year ago it was like 80-100 buckshttp://www.eknifeworks.com/webapp/eCommerce/product.jsp?PriceEnd=&order=PriceDesc&CatalogName=&range=101&list=50&Feature=&Cat=93&SearchText=&Mode=Cat&PriceStart=&Brand=&SKU=CS27LCHThe guy lost it in the woods with in 5 months. At the same time, I bought a $5 lock back and a $20 dollar lockback, both hard steel, the $5 knife gets a lot of general use and will last me about 6 months of heavy use. The $20 knife will probably last 3x as long. Since I am left handed and I want to clip it to my belt, I will have to go 70-100 bones to get a reversible clip.

I need to find a place that offers engraving.
