There's a reason why it's nicknamed "Dumpster Square."

Not really - I've lived here for almost 3 years now and have had no bad experiences...management is good, maintenance is good, rent is cheap and the apartments are nice.

whats the fitness center pass code there?

I lived in a townhouse there for 2 years and never had any problems. Maintenance was super-fast, leasing office staff was always very freindly, they have 2 pools and 2 workout rooms, apartments are in great shape considering they were built in the 60s (a lot of them have been remodeled within the past 2 years). All-in-all, for a college apartment, I think they are ideal. Would I raise a family there? Probably not, but they served me well.

i stay at university apts on avent ferry right down from campus. Rent for a two bedroom apt here is $495 a month. They arent the newest apts out there, but they aint bad at all. There is one for rent right down from me, i remember just seeing the sign

I spent a couple years there, and if I were to move back to Raleigh I'd consider living there again. It was a good experience.http://www.sumtersquareapartments.com/photos.aspI liked the proximity to western blvd (plaza west) being halfway betweent there & crossroads.

marko, you could of made a descent downpayment on a house with all that rent you have paid.
11/11/2006 1:43:40 PM
could have if you add it upbut not at the time i paid most of my rent was i financially secure enough to do so...wasn't until i started making post-college money in the past couple years where i could do thatplus i'm probably moving away from raleigh in about a year or so...so no point in buying a house now

One of the 2 fitness rooms. The 3 bedroom layout with a balcony is a nice set up.

gotta throw it up here...http://www.apthorrors.com/timeline_full.html

I read through that, but decided to live there anyways. I mean one person having a bad experience there back when I was about 12 years old, wasn't enough to turn me off to the place, especially considering all the renovations since then.
11/13/2006 10:25:01 AM
yeah, i lived there 2 years with no problems, but i felt people should be aware of that...
11/13/2006 10:27:28 AM
i live on that row and noone who's ever lived there in the 6 years i have has complained of the apartment making them sick[Edited on November 13, 2006 at 11:05 AM. Reason : +]

sometimes living cheap has its not a good idea. If its cheap then its cheap for a reason.

sumter square ain't a five star resort, but i know people that definitely pay more for less...especially the hamster house crowd off of gorman and tryon
11/13/2006 12:27:29 PM
lived there for about 2 years, not a nice place by any means, but serves a college student well.cheap, fast to fix stuff, never had any problems, however the crowd that lives there is just that of what you would expect with a place that is dirt cheap on rent
