aww knitting is such a sweet hobby, I can't really criticize.....

I just got the must amusing image of someone knitting a sweater and taking timed breaks to post on TWW

I crochet, but only during the winter months. And I can only really do a single stitch.

I do. My grandma and her sister all taught us, my mom, my sisters and I. Right now I've been knitting the mother of all scarves.

Then will move to dishrags for the winter. I <3 heavy cotton yarn.

Knitting is a really relaxing hobby, to do while friends are over, killing time in meetings or waiting rooms, etc.

I want to learn how, I think it would be a cool hobby.

I'm training to be an old maid. haha just kidding.

Knitting is cool. I would make my dog sweaters.

I know how to knit and I have an entire basket dedicated to it that I got from my grandmother, but I've never actually completed anything.

Awesome! I was about to ask about groups in Raleigh. I knew that at one point there was a group meeting on campus.

Knitting is about the only woman-y craft thing I don't do. I crochet, cross stitch, needlepoint and all that other crap. I would like to learn to knit, but the only person I know who does it is someone I can't stand to be around, so I'd either have to go to a group or teach myself, which is no fun.

teaching yourself how to knit isn't really that hard

pick up a knitting book from b&n and you're set to go

i have 2 stitch n bitch books and i think they are easy to follow

^^ I feel sure you're right. I taught myself how to crochet from a book, and didn't find that too hard, but I'd just rather learn from someone else. It's more fun that way.

Here are some socks that I knitted after they finished blocking:

They were knitted with alpaca... super soft

Here is a dice bag that I knitted from the leftover yarn:

I knit. I do a lot of crazy-ass scarves. I haven't exactly worked myself up to any real articles of clothing yet.

Heh, I learned how to crochet simply because everyone around me was doing it. It's pretty relaxing, and a good way to pass the time while sitting through long-ass meetings.

I can knit and crochet... I just didn't bring my stash from home so I haven't really gotten a chance to knit or anything since school started. I am excited to hear that there's a snb group here in Raleigh, that's really awesome. And I reccomend those books (Stitch 'n bitch & Stitch 'n bitch nation by debbie stoller) to anyone trying to learn how to knit. A friend taught me the basics and then those books helped me expand. Stoller also has an awesome book on crochet, which I really do a lot better than knit... just b/c it's so much easier

I was thinking of going to the knitting group on campus tomorrow night at 5:30 in Talley 3120. They have yarn and patterns, if you just bring needles. I hope to see some of y'all there!

what is Stitch 'n bitch? I guess it's kinda obvious from the name, but do any TWWers attend?

I never bother to knit fancy or anything but I can do a million scarves!

^^^I need to check and see if my needles got stuffed in my bag or if they're at home...I've never done anything complicated and I'd probably get flamed if I went, but it'd be interesting to go to atleast once, I guess. Who hosts the meeting?
