I just heard on the rumor-mill that Matt Mangini is transferring to Oklahoma StateCan anyone confirm this?

Already did I think
9/2/2006 11:00:51 AM
Is he related to Eric Mangini?
9/2/2006 11:10:25 AM
I can't believe I posted this and got 2 replies. He probably was going to be our best returning hitter after Corona. According to facebook he is already gone.

this is not good news
9/4/2006 12:44:54 AM
obligatory "mangina"
9/4/2006 12:53:59 AM
Drew Martin has more potential at 3rd.. this is not a big lossLess strikeouts and fewer bonehead plays at 3rdGet nYce Drew, you up.
9/4/2006 12:58:54 AM
^ yeah, but what about the losses of diaz and bates? now we need to replace 3 infielders instead of 2. martin isn't locked into playing 3rd you know
9/4/2006 1:05:16 AM
who is the transfer from Tejas that we got?
9/4/2006 1:36:45 AM
i don't know about a transfer, but we got a coach from texas over the summer.
9/4/2006 1:56:17 AM
We also got a transfer, Miles Clauss
9/4/2006 8:42:47 AM
a simple google search reveals several mentionings of the transfer of mangini
9/4/2006 11:42:37 AM
well arent you an admiral of the obvious?
9/4/2006 11:47:01 AM
i see you are still trolling, you little punk bitch
9/5/2006 12:43:35 PM
Does anyone actually know why he is transferring? Is he just trying to go to a school with a better baseball rep or something?
9/5/2006 12:46:42 PM
Mangini is too inconsistent. yeah, it's a big loss, but i think he can be replaced
9/5/2006 1:01:52 PM
^^Don't always discredit out program because someone is transferring. There are many reasons why someone could transfer....family, location, favorite coach/friend at the school, etc..We're a solid program and are getting a helluva lot better with the addition of the pitching coach from Texas.
9/5/2006 2:28:53 PM
^ I'm not discrediting our program at all. I just trying to figure out why he's leaving us for OSU. In my opinion, the ACC is by far the best baseball conference in the nation and our team in one of the reasons why. I know that Oklahoma State has a pretty good baseball program/history (more so than us) so I was wondering if that was his motivation for transferring.[Edited on September 5, 2006 at 2:44 PM. ^^^^^it takes a real man to wait till the next day to reply, or a stupid moron like yourself
9/5/2006 2:57:43 PM
^^^Well I would like to think Matt is not leaving for location. He is from Holly Springs and wants to go to Stillwater?
9/5/2006 4:39:07 PM
maybe he just wants to explore out West?At any rate, he was pretty good, however so inconsistent...Could CRUSH against mediocre teams the.. otherwise just give his ass a KAnd in reply to losing the other infielders.. Drew Martin I believe is pretty locked in at third, I don't remember him being quite tall enough to play first and not quite agile enough to play SS... However i could be totally wrong, I've only seen him play a couple times
9/5/2006 5:06:05 PM
i played with matt all through high school and know his parents pretty well. i have been told that avent had a problem with him and did not speak to matt over the last month of the season. matt couldn't stand avent, just like most of the other players on the team, but he did something about it. and whoever said this is not a big loss is ridiculous. he's 6'4 220, bats lefthanded and can hit for power and average. plus last year was his first full season playing. he has a ton of potential. major league teams wanted him out of high school and even brought him up to their ballparks to workout but he wanted to play at state. a big pat on the back to avent and company.
9/5/2006 10:39:55 PM
^^ from what i saw i'd say martin could play short.^getting drafted out of highschool is no more special in baseball than playing in the acc.
9/5/2006 11:41:51 PM
Guys Mangini was National Player of the Week once...Kid can hit. We will miss him.
9/5/2006 11:43:03 PM
^National Player of the week 2x i believeBut then again look at the competition...Deleware State and HofstraThen he hit a bomb off NebraskaBut pretty much after that it was just 1 k after another
9/6/2006 12:01:46 AM
I remember the acc championship game where he fucked up so many times at 3rd....he was literally responsible for 7 of clemson's 8 runs at least indirectly. I'd say 4 of them were directly from his errors and the other 3 were runs scored after he made an error on an inning ending play. Also, everyone on the team doesnt hate Avent. I've heard that he has a tough love relationship with his players but would do anything to help his players out if they're willing to work. Nothing wrong with that. Some players love it, some hate it...who gives a shit if we're winning. [Edited on September 6, 2006 at 12:06 AM. Reason : ]

like i said...hard to replace a left-handed stick who can change the game with one swing of the bat.
9/6/2006 2:00:26 AM
The coach hating on the guy who lost the acc championship???
9/6/2006 2:02:51 AM
Mangini also lost us one of the games against unc, the 2nd game because he didnt know the play.......I liked the kid, he had promise but Drew Martin will do just fine.We are gonna have alot of spots to fill this year, some guys are gonna have to step upWe lost, Camp, Aragon, Walls, Bates, Diaz, Mangini, Still, HobsonBut fortunatley we still got some guys with talent to take some placesMartin, Reggie Dixon, Chris Engle, Bobby Hubbard, Marcus Jones, Jeremy Synan, Ryan Pond, just to name a few......Caleb Mangum already showed he has talent and can play
9/6/2006 9:32:27 AM
^^^How many times did he strike out with the bases loaded?? I mean this number can't be counted on one hand. Sure he could hit bombs against crappy teams, occasionally a solo shot against a decent team, but when it mattered he struck the fuck out usually. Not to mention the bonehead plays at third.Drew Martin is an overall better replacement I believe... but i'm not saying Mangini has no talent.
9/6/2006 10:08:51 AM
he couldnt play D and cant hit a curve ball...
