I don't get the appeal of Five Star.I mean, yeah, it's fine. It's good Chinese food. I don't really see it being set so far above some other restaurants, though.
9/2/2006 11:39:26 AM
first of all the atmosphere (unless they moved it from the location it used to be at in the warehouse district) is freaking awesome. it reminds me of something you'd find in LA or NYC. second of all, the food is just phenomenal. if you don't dig the place, i kinda have to wonder why...

Peking Garden, up by the corner of millbrook and six forks. has a HUGE traditional chinese menu, all kinds of tripe and bitter melon, thousand year eggs, and all sorts of delicious things. the interior is absolutely beautiful. it was the first restaurant in raleigh opened by the guy who runs Cody's on glenwood (which is also good, but the menu is very abbreviated, mostly non-traditional stuff.) 10-15 dollars per entree, and they do dim sum on the weekends. can't even see the beautiful koi garden in this picturehttp://www.pekinggardenraleigh.com they don't have the traditional menu on the website, but they still have it. you won't be disappointed![Edited on September 2, 2006 at 12:23 PM. Reason : somebody else posted it, so what ]
