he has a class that's using matlab and he's never used it before...
can he access matlab remotely? if not, how expensive is it to purchase student version? (the mathworks sight is experiencing technical difficulties)

If he is in the COE, he can get it installed for free.

Otherwise, yes, you can access matlab remotely.

Your best bet for running Matlab remotely would be to use the Virtual Computing Lab and Remote Desktop.
