I'll be passing through Copenhagen one night next week and I am looking for recommendations for hostels or cheap hotels. Since I'll have a lot of stuff with me, I'd prefer ones with private rooms available and somewhat close to the airport. Also, any things to see or do while in the city would be appreciated.

Hamlet's Castle is pretty cool, though a bit out of the way. Tivoli is pretty cool I guess though it was quite a walk from where I was staying. I took a boat ride along the canals for about 45 minutes which was a good way to see some nice boats and different parts of the city. I stayed down near Nyhavn, which seemed to be a pretty happening place. There's lots of shopping not too far off Nyhavn and several small plaza/parks.

^^ I'll have to check some of those out. I'll have the better part of a day and a night so I don't have time to do all that I'd like. Your list is a good place to start.

I lived in Copenhagen for a while, its a really sweet city. If you are into chilling and having a few beers, check out Nyhaven.Tivoli is cool, but expensive. Hamlets castle is OK, but the castle in Fredricksborg is much cooler, but they are both way out of the way, probably wont have time for that. You can get a bus pass and check out the carsberg brewery. They give out free samples at the end of the tours. Definatly walk down the stroget, the longest pedestrian street in the world.

yeah, I was only there for about 8 days, but it's one of my favorite European cities.

I've never been before and will only be there for roughly 24 hours. I hope to get back for a longer stay at some point since I'll be spending the next year only a 5 hour train ride away.

stuff in the city that's cool to see:changing of the guard at the big ass square, round tower (really great view of the city),christiana (this hippie social experiment in christianshaven)the rosenburg castle and the crown jewelsthe carlsberg brewerymuseum eroticathe castlet (sp? a really old fort, pretty cool. got a sweet windmill also)most of that stuff is free, or not very expensive to see. the round tower i think you have to pay 20 crowns for, not sure about rosenburg castle - when i went they had free admission that day. however if you are coming in the next few days they are having a renaissance festival around the castle with cool stuff to see.
