Where did he get that picture? The three panels in the background are the control panels in Manuevering on a nuclear submarine.[Edited on August 30, 2006 at 5:22 PM. Reason : subject-verb agreement]

you have GOT to be kidding me ... i'm amazed there are people in the CS world that STILL haven't seen this picture and/or actually fall for it.anyway, been around a couple years now, a fella named lukket made the image ... here's the original fark.com photoshop thread in sept '04 that the image was created for:http://forums.fark.com/cgi/fark/comments.pl?IDLink=1115586and then popular mechanics response in the december '04 issue:http://www.popularmechanics.com/technology/computers/1303271.html

the class isn't too hard, just not easyenjoy Lasher's sense of humor, one of the best in the department

Lasher is overrated

Lasher is probably reading this thread ... say something comical so he'll repeat it in class. This class shouldn't have you worried. Minus the tests, there should be no reason you can't make a 100 on every HW/programming assignment with the auto-grading system.

no [sarcasm] in that post, Dana Lasher was a great teacher in CSC236 when I took the class back in Fall '01. It was really the only class that actually challenged me in CSC. Assembly language isnt for the faint of heart, and really working on those ASM programs to get your code down to the fewest lines of code, or fewest executed instructions was fun.Not to mention Lasher was a cool teacher. I cant say the same for the other 'tards they let teach CSC courses

i def like Lasher thus far, he clearly knows his shit and the sense of humor is much appreciated. the stuff down the road just looks difficult as hell from my vantage point here at the beginning.

^ ahh like Dr. Nelson

there are only three lectures you need to goto for Lasher's class. the one on jumps, the one on two's compliment and the one on multiplication and division. the rest are just entertaining anecdotes on the computer industry.

I loved 236, probably my favorite CSC class. Lasher is a great professor and entertaining to boot.

Lasher was definitely the best CSC professor during my time (97-02).He was great both times I had to take it. [Edited on September 1, 2006 at 1:16 AM. Reason : .]
