I'm talking out the N64 version, not it's crappy sequel.

For me, it's all about the sniper rifle in slow-mo mode.

my favorite weapon is finding a better hobby than playing old ass games and making threads about them

I'll bite. I'm all about some PD.

Every weapon had it's advantages. It's hard for me to choose a "favorite." But if I had to choose, I'd say remote mines. I dare say I am a fucking master with remote mines.

And now I present to you a comprehensive list of my opinion on all the weapons.

Unarmed: Practically worthless, but it's fun to steal a guy's gun away and make his vision blurry. One time I was playing multiplayer against a friend. I was just newly spawned and unarmed, he had a K7 Avenger. He was taking pot shots at me from around a corner. The moment he began the reloading animation, I ran at him and disarmed him. He managed to squeeze off a few shots and knock off half my health, but it was worth it. I immediately killed him with it. I have never felt more satisfactory pwnage after that.

Falcon 2: standard is okay, the scoped is the most useful and the silenced is the coolest looking imo. Not a great gun but the superb accuracy makes it good for a little while. As with all pistols, it's more of a "use it to fight your way to a bigger gun" gun.

Magsec 4: The zoom is nice but ironic considering the inaccuracy of this gun. Three-round burst is good, but with only nine bullets per magazine it's a quick way to run out of ammo.

Pheonix: primary mode = next to worthless. But explosive shells = fucking awesome. I wouldn't necessarily use this gun against somebody with an assault rifle or other weapon, but in the right hands it can hold its own.

Mauler: It's not my favorite, but it's an okay gun. Twenty round magazine ensures that there's plenty of pain to dish out, and charged shots are the quickest way to one-shot kills. I sometimes question the accuracy of this weapon, though.

DY-357 Magnum- the standard magnum isn't a favorite of mine to use. The shots are very powerful, but you will note a slight delay between when you pull the trigger and when the gun actually fires. I've never successfully been able to compensate for this, and imo the only way to guarantee a hit with this gun is if the enemy stands still. The gold variant is a step-up because of it's one-hit kill capability, but again you have to be able to hit something with it.

CMP-150: A good submachine gun, but even better with lock-on. I practically never take off the lock-on personally. Runs out of ammo very quickly if you keep the trigger pressed, though.

Cyclone: I don't use it often, but it makes for good suppressive fire. The reloading animation is also pretty cool.

Callisto NTG: Another weapon that I don't use very often. I don't use the primary mode much, but it does make for a nice room-clearing effect (you will quickly run out of ammo, though). Penetrating rounds are nice in that they add more damage and reduce the rate of ammo consumption, but it's really only useful for shooting opponents through doors, and even then you're just shooting blind.

Laptop Gun: A favorite of one of my friend's. I have since adopted it as a regularly-used weapon, but unless I have a threat detector or cloak this gun is my bane. As a submachine gun it is good, and the zoom is a nice tack-on, but this gun is only ever put into a map with it's sentry mode in mind. Very useful for laying down traps or over-lapping fields of fire. Depending upon their placement, they can be nigh impossible to take out.

RCP-120: What's not to love? Excellent rate of fire plus complimentary insanely high magazine capacity, combined with a cloaking device = maximum pwnage. The cloak not only removes you from the radar screen, it also defeats lapton gun sentries (proximity-based explosives will still get you, though).

Dragon: Not as useful as its brother the superdragon, but it holds its own. Good rate of fire and a nice zoom, but my favorite attribute of this weapon is the really quick reload time. When in doubt, it also makes for a nice proximity mine. I've stumbled across many a dragon hoping to get more ammo, only to be greeted with a flash of light and then death.

K7-Avenger: Nice rate of fire and good zoom capability. The magazine is too small, though. Best to fire in short bursts. The threat detector is also a very useful feature, and has prevented me from running blindly into a booby-trapped room.

AR-34: This is my favorite rifle, I sometimes call it my "hunting" rifle. The rate of fire and magazine size are nicely balanced, and the power and accuracy are pretty decent. Secondary function is absolutely worthless, and frankly just plain tacky.

Superdragon: The grenade-launcher aspect makes the primary mode obsolete. In fact, I don't think I've ever used the primary function. It doesn't have as much range or power as the Devastator, but it's more than enough to get the job done.

Shotgun: I don't use this weapon much, but it's pretty potent in the right hands. Two-round burst is a nice "FUCK YOU!" to your opponent. Reloading time is a bitch, though. The delay between shots doesn't help too much, either.

Reaper: Not a gun that I use really often. Unless you're right up in someone's face, you are NOT going to kill anyone with this weapon. The spread is just too damn much. But this is the game's equivalent of a machine gun; it's not designed to reliably hit anything, it's designed to lay down suppressive covering fire. It's possible to kill somebody with this gun, but it's gonna take a good while (unless a stray shot happens to move through somebody's skull). If you manage to kill anyone with the grinder function, I will be impressed.

Sniper Rifle: Good power and incredible zoom capability. Crouching makes the aim much more steady and makes you harder to hit. There aren't a whole lot of multiplayer levels that are good for sniping, though.

Farsight: The rate of fire is atrocious (obviously to make the weapon more balanced), but the ability to see and fire through walls is highly valuable. The ability to auto-follow targets is even more valuable. Quick movements can help nullify the auto-follow, however. It's also a little hard to see things clearly while in x-ray mode. I don't use this gun a whole lot, but it's made for some pretty fun situations.

Devastator: Unlike the superdragon, it is purely a grenade launcher through and through. Excellent power and good range, assuming you can arc the shot properly. Sticky grenades aren't terribly useful, but they do have their time and place.

Rocket Launcher: Decent. Not a weapon I use often, though. Lock-on mode is okay, but the rockets move too damn slow.

Slayer: Think rocket launcher, except its usefulness is a hundred times higher. Fly-by-wire is guaranteed hours of entertainment. You are left vulnerable, of course, but rockets can be detonated at any time so that you can quickly escape to safety or retaliate.

Crossbow: Tranquilized bolts don't kill anyone very fast, but you will blur another player's vision like nobody's business. Kill bolts obviously kill with one hit. Because the bolts don't instantly travel from the weapon, it can be a little hard to properly aim the weapon.

Tranquilizer: It's good for some laughs, but it can get annoying. You will blur people's visions so much that even after you kill them a couple of times they'll still be smelling purple with their fingers. Lethal injection is a nice way to pwn somebody, though.

Grenades: Not a weapon I use often, but they're pretty useful in a tight spot. Assuming you time the throw and release right, you can catch opponents in the explosion for instant death. Prox ping-ball is a mixed blessing; on the one hand you'll incite panic and potentially kill somebody, but on the other hand the grenade can come bouncing back right at you. I don't use the secondary function unless I feel absolutely certain that it will work (or at least not kill me).

Timed Mines: Worthless. Never use them.

Proximity Mines: Not my favorite kind of mine, but my friend uses them very effectively. Very nice for laying down booby traps or protecting a way in/out of a room. Threat detector more or less nullifies the use of this weapon, as it does for any explosives-based weapon.

Remote Mine: One of my "favorite" weapons. I can kill anybody with them with pretty damn-good consistency, and they're very useful for clearing out prox mines and sentries. I can even use them to counter an incoming Slayer rocket. Obviously remote mines have their limits; I don't want to be too close to them when they go off. But it's one of those weapons that I'm pretty skilled with.

Oh yeah, I forgot to add the laser. And the combat knife.

Laser: Not the best weapon to use imo. It's better than nothing, but it's like the pistols; only good for fighting your way to a bigger gun. The primary mode isn't all that powerful, and the rate of fire isn't all that great. Short-range stream can be fun to use, but it does even less damage than primary mode. I don't know about your experiences, but I've never been able to use the laser effectively.

Combat Knife: Beats being unarmed. Each chop/swipe deals considerable damage, but the rate of attack is a little low. In the event of any better weapon, it's best to arm yourself with duel-wielded knives. Throwing the knife is a mixed blessing; if you manage to hit someone, their health will start to drain by half (I don't think it will kill somebody at full health), but you've also thrown away your weapon. This is, of course, remedied by carrying more knives with you. The other nice things about knives is that, like crossbow bolts, they are reusable. So if you miss and throw your knife into a wall, you can pick it back up. However, this also means that if you miss, you have potentially given your opponent a weapon to use right back at you.

Cloaking Device: Not a weapon per se, but it definitely has its uses. It not only makes you hard to see (you're not completely invisible, and if you know what to look for you can make out the faint image of somebody who is cloaked), you also disappear off the radar (assuming you enable it anyway). Another nice benefit is that laptop sentries can't track you while you're cloaked. Proximity-activated explosives will still get you, though. Unlike the RCP-120, it doesn't eat up weapon ammo, although it does have a battery that drains at a rate of one unit per second. Also unlike the RCP-120, you can be cloaked while using any other weapon. Not a necessary item to add to a map, but it's nice to come across if you do.

Hey you know what, we should all get together and play some PD multiplayer. I'll bring my own controller. Hell, I'll even bring the cartridge. All this talk about PD is making me nostalgic, and it's been a while since I've played against anybody. I wanna see if I'm as l337 as I claim to be.

yeah man i'm down. I always went in with the laser at close range and got multiple head shots until somebody died. Or with two knives, hold down the trigger and let both of them fly into somebodys head. I used to rock that game. I actually beat all of the levels on Perfect Agent and managed to get all the cheats the legit way.

I always loved that you could empty the magazine of the Cyclone at the press of a button.
