Set to Open Spring 2007

Quote :
" 8/23/2006 12:00:00 AM

Set amid a French village, Griffon carries riders up 205 feet, then hurtles them 90 degrees straight down at 70 mph. And that’s just the beginning.

Griffon evokes the power and speed of a mythical bird that is part eagle and part lion. It plunges, twists and turns – giving riders an adrenaline-pumping adventure that’s unlike any coaster experience in the world.

Griffon will be the tallest dive coaster in the world; the first floorless dive coaster, and the first to incorporate two Immelmann loops (an inverse diving loop named for a WWI German fighter pilot), a second 130-foot dive and one water feature. Griffon offers over-the-edge excitement on more than half a mile of steel track and will become the centerpiece of Busch Gardens’ Europe’s French section."

looks cool, they definitely need more coasters. I'll probably go next year.

But still Kingda Ka is better.

I did Kingda Ka @ Six Flags Great Adventure last Sunday and I'm telling you it was fucking nuts!

450 feet with a 90 degree angle drop @ 130 mph was such an unbelievable rush I dont think there's anything that can ever top it...

Busch Gardens is awesome, great coasters and great atmosphere.

I'm gonna try to go up there next spring and check it out, although I don't think it will hold a candle to Alpingeist.

this will be alot like sheikra at their tampa park. cedar point has better quality and quanity but busch gardens always makes sure all their coasters use terrain to enhance them visually. many parks tear older coasters down to build new ones but cedar point just keeps adding. they are buidlings something new as well. between millenium force and mean streak. it will be the 17th coaster in the park.

I'm probably gonna go this year. I haven't been up there in a while (usually just go to Kings Dominion since I can get in free), but if you buy a season pass now you can use it for the rest of this year and all of next year, so I think I'll do that.

And Cedar Point is fantastic, but overrated. It will be interesting to see what they do with this new coaster, though. It seems as though they may have finally realized that it's better to focus on the quality of the ride experience instead of just the statistics for marketing (world's tallest, fasest, most inversions, etc).

so when i went to 6 flags last they had a ride queuing system, you jut flash your device, come back at the time and no waiting.

does busch gardens or any other parks around here have that kind of system?

^Flash Pass. I dont know about other places but they have it at Disney. My family has season passes at Six Flags but no flash pass, its a waste of money for them- they just come really early and run to the rides.

The difference in the Six Flags system and the Disney one is that Six Flags charges you a ton of money to use their 'Q-Bots'. You can easily spend more on the flash pass than you did on admission. They are worth it if you are pressed for time or show up on a crowded day (with those oh so wonderful Six Flags operations), but otherwise it's best just to go on a less crowded day and save a ton of money. None of the parks around here have it (other than the Six Flags parks), although I've heard Dollywood is looking into it (which doesn't make any sense; the lines at Dollywood are never bad even on the most crowded days because half the guests don't come to ride things).

That is so true about Dollywood. I never waited more than 15 minutes to ride anything when I was up there last week and they were only running one train on both coasters.

howl o scream is lame. its basically the same park except they have a few haunted houses, haunted train ride and dancing holloween characters (all pretty lame unless you're a kid)

it actually used to be really good but people complained it was too much for small kids so they pretty much got rid of it in the last few years.

universal has single riders lines and a pass to go through express lanes.

you can go to any park and say you have a handicap (my friend wore his old leg brace from an old injury to kd) and get a sheet that you take to the exit of rides and they write down your time to come back and is good for everyone with you. FREE FLASH PASS.
